Just looking for some confirmation. The car is a 95 TSi AWD. The stock coolant gauge died last summer, so I just installed an Autometer one to replace it. Now, both fans run as soon as I start the car. So, please correct me, but I thought the fan control was off the other sensor, not the one for the stock gauge.

On a side note, I removed the AC at the same time. Could I have messed something up there?

I maybe wron. But you should have a gauge sender sensor and ECT sensors. The gauge sender should be a single wire. The ECT should have 2 wires. If you disconnected the ECT the ecm will turn on your fans because it has it temp sensor input.

That's what I though. I disconnected the single wire. Maybe the other sensor died. That would be a strange coincidence.

Maybe just bad wiring on the ECT. Old and brittle. Maybe you jiggled it a bit. You can always resistance test the ECT.

Found a corroded wire on the ECT, which broke just from moving it. Where can I find a pigtail for it? RTM doesn't show one on their website.

I just replaced my terminals and made my own pigtail. If it came down to it you could just use some spade terminals till you find the right ones.

Yeah, they don't really exist in nature. Stephen's advice is probably the best. Even if you found one from a part out or some such, chances are it'd be flakey too. The wiring just after the connector back usually has an extreme bend in it that eventually breaks the wire right there.

Can some one take a picture or two of the connector and I will take a look for one.

A quick search I was able to find this using the sensor picture from rtm as a reference, but I'm not sure if its the same.

Lance, that one looks similar. I read somewhere last night that the fog light connector is the same. I will try to verify it today.

That's a much different connector then a 1g.But yeah most vehicles share connectors somewhere. If it is a foglight connector that would be great since it hasn't spent its life in a hot engine bay.

Well, the fog light connector is different. So, bought some female disconnects and they seem to be fine, car started right up. I will keep looking for a proper connector though.

Thanks for the input.
