So someone finally figured out my car's doors were left open in my underground parking garage and stripped my radio and pulled a sh!t load of wires out of the dash including the SAFC that was attached.

Went through my glove box and everything, not sure what else was in there.

Doors wouldn't lock, so I couldn't lock 'em.

Next time you buy a car, make sure the locks work. Woo hoo!

Going to report this to building security so they can step it up with their patrols, don't even care about the car anymore.

Battery is also almost dead, and I needed that tonight, so I could get it to my other car, so it doesn't get towed...long story.

sh!t.

Damn, your story with these cars just gets worse and worse. Isn't there a security camera somewhere on the premises?

I feel your pain Mike. The EVO was violated this summer and they stole a newly installed 7" indash. Bastards!

Unless you catch them in the act, you're pretty much SOL.

The movie theatre incident was me way long ago in woodbridge along side of friends of mine with their rides. I'm shocked someone still remembers that.

Man you have bad luck with DSM's Michael. It might be time to call it quits. No point in fixing/modding up the DSM and parking it in the same spot, unless you plan on sleeping in it every night with a baseball bat wink

This is why my DSM is a leisure car only. I will not go grocery shopping in it, to the movies, to the mall, downtown or anyplace else where I can't leave the doors unlocked safely.

Agreed Michael, luck is not on your side for this, and your collection of dust collectors is getting bigger.

Yeah I am with Johnny, although most people won't give a second look at my car so I don't have much to worry about.

No point in maintenance when its just gonna get jacked again frown I think maintenance is not the case here and Michael has just had bad luck with DSM's for the past few years

I think we can all agree here. Still, no need to throw in the towel. Brush yourself off, get back up and have at it!

I believe Rza makes a VERY strong case here, DSM's require much more then just maintenance, they UNDOUTABLY require skill and attention even if its in a purely stock form.

If you can't put in the time, money and desire to either pay someone to fix/mod or learn how to do it your self with the help of this great online community...its simply time to throw in the towel and move onto something much newer and headache free.

I believe Rza said before and it still rings loud, clear and truer every passing year..'DSM's arn't for everyone'. it just gonna take balls to admit and accept if it just isn't the right car for you.

I don't want you to leave the forum Michael but I hate to see you unnecessarily suffer from the choices that you (and you alone) make.

come on Mike E..Love alone won't keep a DSM on the road, we keep dancing around the real issues here. 2 broken and neglected DSM's for a prolonged period of time = NO real desire to get them back on the road...period wink

where there is a will there is a way...this situation lacks will.

I thinks it's time to move on. It's to hard to have a hobby like this and have no time or place to work on your car.

I can't ever see myself back down from supporting MLee. If you've ever met or spent time with the guy, you'd know he's a GOOD GUY! And honest..trustworthy. bla bla bla I don't wanna suck his dick so don't joke about it ok! rotflmao.

Anyway, my point is this..he may not have the time or desire right now but you just WON'T see ME ever tell him to move on from these cars. For him, it may be better to buy a daily driver and keep ONE of the TWO dsm's he has a hobby car. That's pretty much it..any car pushing 10+ years old has problems..and if money doesn't allow you to fix them right away..that doesn't mean you should just give up on them all together.

My momma raised no quitter! wink

I'm with Eng on that too. I'd keep one, take it apart, get new gaskets, seals, etc. for it to freshen it up that way there are minimal things that can go wrong with it. And only work on it when you get a chance to. Don't rush it so you can enjoy working on it.

Remember, if you want a hand with fixing it, I'm not far away and would be willing to help.

I am with Terry on this, I haven't seen Lee update us on any progress on either of the cars.
I think he would be better off sending them to a good home and then getting back into it when he has the time.

Either way, it's ultimately his decision and whether he keeps his cars or sells them, I support him because he is a genuinely good guy in my books.

I've said all I have to say about that.

Keep your head up high. Don't let these troubled times drag you down. You'll bounce back in a positive way. And if you REALLY need help from of us, we'll be there for you pal!

This^^^

BUT

Thanks guys for all the support.

I won't ever leave this forum, it's a great place, not just for DSMs.

Lots of resourceful people on here that are willing to share, like the jerky link! My teeth, stomach, and asshole thank you! tongue

I think it's time to move on, just trying to sort out the 2 cars and recoup as much $ as possible.

Glad to hear it Michael, very happy to hear you are sticking around.
When you have the time and the place we look forward to hearing about the DSM you will pick up.

Well at this point it's either sell them as is, which would mean I'd get very little money for them, or getting a group of guys together to get one working out of the two.

The latter doesn't seem very plausible, so I'm leaning towards the first option.

Or sell/get rid of those two 2g's and find a nice solid 1g DSM and a safe place to keep it. I just hate the 2g DSM's especially now. Except for a few, I find them all rusted, beat up, hacked up POS's, and 90% of them just look ugly, lol. If 1g DSM's didn't exist, I wouldn't even drive a 2g DSM. Sorry 2g guys tongue

You might have better luck with a 1g DSM, if you decide to stick with DSM's. Or move on and wait till a nice 1g DSM finds you! I think every DSM you have had was a hacked up 2g that needed some sort of major work.

I somewhat agree.

If only my cousin didn't trade in his immaculate 1GB, I would have had that one.

It was so clean, only thing that was "hacked up" was the SAFC he had installed, and he took out the dimmer switch for the dome light, because it was the source of a power drain issue he had.

*tears* just thinking about that car being in some idiot's hands not knowing what he has.

Either way, I think I'm done with these 2 in my possession. Just need a reliable, somewhat, decent car at the moment for the winter season.

You should do it Mike.

And as payment, give the other car to Steve so that he can build himself a winter beater wink

I remember my 1G's power door locks would open from any key, haha. It was so fucked, could open it with my mail box key, house key, my friend's tool box key.

Luckily no one ever broke in, or tried to get in.

One of my old 2g's had a similar problem. There was enough play in the lock that it would trigger the power lock, so any key/screwdriver/dime anything that would fit in the lock could unlock it.

Locked my keys in the car at DQ once, so I asked if they had any keys turned in. They showed me a basket of keys and asked which one was mine, I grabbed a set and said none of them. Gave the keys back after I unlocked it, they were all confused how a random set of keys worked so I gave a bs story about unlocking it with my phone but needing a key in the lock for it to work.
