I'm actually not judging the whole DSM crowd. My post just says I have yet to meet any nice DSMers in Toronto. I didn't say, "all DSMers are assholes". I just happened to not have met much good ones on the road. Everyone I've met through the board have been on the up and up, despite the occasional cowardly jabs in the forums and the shady mechanic. But like in most forums, I'm not a fan of any over-enthusiastic moderator who spends most of their life sitting in front of the computer monitoring activity like it was the only thing that makes them feel good, by flexing their muscles, stressing the rules, policies, and kicking people off the club with mere suspicion, to then retract everything later, and to have a section to inconsistently humiliate people who have made faux pas in terms of posting etiquette, and the occasional "should we let this guy back in the club" nonsense. Giving users nicknames that doesn't encourage people to contribute to this board by casting them with a negative connotation doesn't help their cause either. It's supposed to make me feel good to be labelled? LOL.
Wayne, you are a nice guy. Enjoy the rims I sold to you. I am afterall, as labelled by a moderator who shall be nameless, the "Junk Peddler". It's quite hilarious actually...that someone would actually give such a damn. I've seen more crap sold by other people. Maybe we can form a separate "Junk Peddling" section for us to sell our $10 thermostats.

HA! ROTFLMAO... Good jab. (: But then again, the reason this board HAS such nice people is that it's not left to degenerate like some OTHER boards. "Whuch youse suxxors fah shoor boot my Honduh?" and such. If you're a good guy, you get treated well. If not, then not. Even down here, I'd say about 80% of DSM owners haven't even HEARD of the forums, let alone www.dsm.org. And some are as bad as any 'Honda owner' with trash talking and lack of knowledge.

That's why I put the quotes around Honda owner, to show the stereotype.
But then, what you call a stereotype, I call 9 times out of 10... (:
Hey, Ziggy's going to be a Honda owner. You don't get much trashier than that! *Laugh*
And oddly enough, the new Prelude EX V6 with 6-spd caught my eye...

Amin, I don't know of any roads with a speed limit below 90kph that require you to recognize the left lane as passing only. When it's a boulevard, you can be in any lane you want.
Of course, it was stupid down here until they finally rescinded the law that made it illegal to pass a car on it's right side. (:

highway traffic act of Ontario REQUIRES you to "turn out to the right" to allow someone to pass....in other words, left lane is PASSING lane, not "fast lane", and those who treat it as "fast lane" should, in my opinion, have their licenses revoked and/or be shot!!!(and if you would like, I will tell you my preference )

Sure I have...at 140+. And I will BRIEFLY tailgate to let them know I'd like by. If he still won't move, I will go around on the right, and give him a dirty look as I do so.

MTO is ANAL about being in the right hand lane when you take your driving tests. Make a left hand turn, into the left lane. If you don't change lanes right away... they are looking around you, behind you, beside you, wondering WTF you aren't changing lanes. However, I do drive in the left lane sometimes, just because the streets in Trenton are horrible in the right lane and you wreck your suspension hitting the pot holes!!!

Edited to add I wonder what is more illegal, driving 140km+ and tailgating someone in the left hand lane or staying on the left hand lane going the speed limit (or at least not 140+). It's funny how we are immediately blasting those who drive on the left hand lane while we are doing something just as illegal. Everything is illegal under the HTA, but for some reason we don't put as much value on speeding 40km/h+ over the limit and tailgating. LOL. Back to the original "idiot" topic. I was on the RIGHT lane in a highly patrolled area (south on Don Mills where the Sony building is) doing 70km/h in a 60km/h AND the other driver was a DSMer who cut me off.

I am not saying what I do is legal...but I don't force anyone else to drive 140 and tailgate...I don't even encourage it. I don't get in THEIR way. If someone else wants to do 160, I will have moved out of his way LONG before he reaches my back bumper. I am only suggesting that everyone else be as considerate of OTHER drivers..Most clowns are just happy to putt along in the left lane at 10km over. If they are out for a Sunday drive, that is fine, but stay out of the left lane unless you are passing..it is simple courtesy AS WELL AS the law.

Maybe the motors are swappable. (:
Strange, here in NS the law is you only need to keep right when the signs are present 'Keep Right Except To Pass' (and some people are morons here as well).
I'm surprised it isn't the same in Ontario. I know that lane discipline isn't rigidly enforced on the 401 and such. And if you're going to make a left turn, just WHEN do you pull left? And what if someone rear-ends you? When does it go from being your fault to theirs?

It is not ENFORCED here at all...that is the biggest problem with our highways. I am surprised it is NOT the same there? Maybe it is and you just aren't aware of it? 99% of people here are also unaware. They all think of the left lane as the "fast" lane, LOL. If making a left turn, you pull left at an "opportune" moment. If people weren't all riding in the left lane, that would never be a problem, LOL. If someone rear ends you, the fault is ALWAYS with the car in the back!!

Nah, I always keep up with the traffic laws. I know because on one 2-lane boulevard (actually designed as a 100kpb highway) before it was developed, I always 'reminded' drivers to keep to the right, and most did.
But I always wondered at the confusion it could possibly create (and sometimes did) when the road terminated, turning right or left. You get people merging left, and faster-moving vehicles coming up on the left lane, some of them wanting to turn right.
So I researched, and the rule is that you have to keep right if there's a sign saying so, like on a highway. Otherwise, you can drive in whatever lane you like. Stay left if you're turning left, and right if you're turning right. If traffic's heavy, you shouldn't be moving so fast that you'll be passing quickly anyway.
Like I said, it was a bit dicey with some cops because of the 'no passing on the right' law, but they've since rescinded that. System works good!
So Ziggy, what's the difference between 'passing' and 'fast' lane? I'd think you would be going faster if you were passing someone on the right. And 'opportune' moment? Maybe that was a mile back before the turn in rush-hour traffic.
And no, if you change lanes and a car rear-ends you, partial (if not all) fault lies on the car changing lanes. Someone just posted the Ontario insurance guidelines on here recently...

No, it IS the law and it makes sense on the open highway. If there is NO traffic, and I'm doing 150kph? I'm doing it in the far right lane. On the Autobahn, where lane discipline is STRICTLY enforced (or else you die, this isn't by the police) the right hand lane was moving at 100kph or less, the middle was 110-130, and the fast (passing? ( lane was anything above that. As soon as someone passed, they got as far to the right as they could with the traffic flow.

That may be an insurance guideline, but the police will always charge the car in the rear in a rear end collision. We have "no fault" insurance here. A big part of the reason we HAVE traffic jams is morons driving in the left. Think about it, if everyone stayed out of that lane except to pass, how would that lane EVER come to a complete stop??
