You had your chance on Friday. Bring me home your best slip and we'll see who's talking sh!t. I have proof on video laugh

Yeah... the wife and 2 sons that were SLEEPING all the way there (don't know HOW the way you were driving...)

The wife and 2 sons that you JUST HAPPENED to wake up by going WOT 30 seconds before the light.

Whatever. We'll look at the video that nobody has seen, and compare timeslips from different tracks/times/weather conditions if that's what you want.

Turn down a free night at the dragstrip (since you <cough> don't street race) and call ME chicken. :rolleyes:

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Lol. I've said for a while that if I want to go faster then 12s it won't be in a FWD. If I can find a mint early 92 AWD I may just start all over at the begining and keep it in mint condition forever.

I knew that post would get brought up.

I still haven't decided if I will take the plunge or not... Stinger is plenty fast and could become my lifer. We'll see.

Mr. Bienhaus,

You're the one that sorted out my inabilty to access this sight. But 400+ replies and page nine. It must be a record. I would suggest staying away from Captain ex-Morgan and stop playing the Beatles white album with or without the naked Ono on the cover. Number 9, Number 9....

Yes, the site has been a bit odd lately.

Cheers Tony

Dear Mr. Old Guy smile (I thought I told you to stop that Mr crap)

This topic has been on and off for well over a year now. Its basically a trash talk thread. Its about Beiny-man's incomplete (for over a year) car, Kinnaird's hypocritical DSM(s), and my inability to run an 11 second time. Everyone is welcome though...its all in FUN.

Now step up, or shut up wink

Ya, I contribute that performance to my (lack of) driving ability... Imagine the 15 sec. times YOU'D be getting outta my old FWD.. quack.. quack..

Again, beating you (with less mods) on the highway got boring after a bit.. Now, I'm gonna do it on your home turf. If I can ever get you out for a race, that is..

I'm surprised you have any time to "fix" my car, with all the time you spend fixing your own POS/mistakes.

I guess that just makes me more like a "real" mechanic then, huh? 'Cause you've had great luck PAYING people to do sh!t like that to your car.

I'll send ya my bill for today (it should be about double the estimate I gave you earlier).

Although, after today it looks like you don't need a mechanic after all, you need a psychiatrist. (and a "driver" for your car..)

Forget the 111.97 mph isn't 112 mph argument... check out this 116.04 mph run!

[Linked Image]

Look at the throttle position in 1st (2.3s 60ft), that's why FWD hurts. Now look at the rpms in 2nd! They spike up then come down then spike up again. That's both wheels spinning again even with drag radials on (about 10 degC no sun). Fun eh? Only good for a low 13 too.

That's why I'm going to bench race again and predict that with the M&H slicks I'm getting over the winter I'll be running mid 12s next year demon . Of course I can bench race because I've shown my past bench talk to be pretty damn accurate.

Maybe with a fully ported big 16G instead of this unported small 16G I'll be able to run more then the 20~21 max I can only run now cool .

And who knows... maybe.. just MAYBE.. some day I'll care what ANY street car runs with slicks.

I don't give a rat's ass what I can run with race gas, slicks, everything yanked out of the car.

I don't drive it that way.

So, I decided to get the traction of slicks in my street car...

Someday, you wil too..

Hmmmm someone's got a case of the nasties. Someone sh!t in your cornflakes yesterday? confused (If not meant to be hostile maybe use a smilie ir two next time)

I race with the spare out, the front light out and different front tires. That's a far cry front a stripped down track car if that's what you are implying. Plus I don't "give a rats ass" (as you so nicely put it) if that's not cool with you bird

First run was 114mph with 94 octane, 116mph later with race gas. I'm at the track racing... why do people get pissed if I run some race gas? I don't get it. And if I run slicks? What you're pissed I'm biting into your only advantage?

"I don't drive it that way."

SO you just drive around in 1/4 mile bursts of acceleration on the street? Anytime you want to freeway race like a car is meant to (not this short 1/4 bullshit where traction rules over horsepower) you just call me up (well in 2 years after my major conviction is off my record wink )

Hey, I never even referenced my actual 1/4mile time in my post I simply said the true fact that my 1/4mile time is what I get in street trim.

If it happened yesterday or 2 years ago.. that's not the issue here wink

You implied my 1/4 mile time was not an accurate representation of my street performance... I only countered that your claimed 1/4 mile time isn't either smile .

Anyway yes you guys are right my traction is not the same on the street as at the track (about 0.20 seconds different... slicks will be a different story smile ). But 114 on pump gas with the light out and spare removed (I don't drive around with my spare anyway)... those traps accurately reflect my street performance thank you very much pimp .

(Disclaimer: I admit I'm at just about the limit of how far I'd consider taking a FWD power wise)

Yep.. I shoulda put a few smilies in there. (For you wimps that have forgotten what this thread is! wink )

Basically, my point here is: I get to the strip, fill out the tech card; go to tech, strap on my helmet, and get in line.

If pulling out your headlight, getting race gas, and turning up the boost, etc. don't do much, then why bother doing it at all? I'll tell you why. Because that FWD thing you're driving passed it's 1/4 mile potential in "street trim" a long time ago. Get used to it. Otherwise, you'll spend the rest of your days making it less streetable (ie:slicks) in persuit of that better E.T. (If you didn't care about your E.T. you wouldn't be considering slicks).

If you're spinning through 1st and 2nd then your trap speed is NOT a good representation of your street performance. Wheelspin gives you falsley high trap speeds.

Get over it and come to the darkside 2 wheel peel boy. I did. And I've never looked back.

I may not drive around in 1/4 mile spurts (perhaps the occasional one) but it IS a lot more fun when a "race" starts below 60km/h now and I don't just start spinning. It's also nice to be able to push the pedal down mid corner and have some excitement. Instead of plowing of the road in an obscene display of understeer. smile

Highway race (sans Andrew!)? Sure. I'll give that a shot. I still enjoy a good highspeed pull once in a while, but it's nice to have the OPTION of doing something else.

How about this. WE'll do a couple highway runs, then a couple 1st and 2nd gear runs (up to 100k). We'll average the car length differences at the end of each and see what happens. tongue

Or, if you wanna wimp out we can just do the highway runs.

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

"If pulling out your headlight, getting race gas, and turning up the boost, etc. don't do much, then why bother doing it at all? I'll tell you why. Because that FWD thing you're driving passed it's 1/4 mile potential in "street trim" a long time ago. Get used to it. Otherwise, you'll spend the rest of your days making it less streetable (ie:slicks) in persuit of that better E.T. (If you didn't care about your E.T. you wouldn't be considering slicks)."

Who said anything about raising the boost? I run 20~21 on the track and street tongue . The light and spare really can't do much for me... but I'll give you the wheels smile

Well I guess I have to whimp out because I can't hiway race for a couple years. If I get another ticket I lose my insurance frown (now $240/month up from $74). I have to be (and have been since) a good boy on the roads (unlike Vince apparently). If my insurance wasn't so high I'd consider picking up an AWD as a second car and play the game from both sides.

As for corner excitement the Quaife makes a night and day difference there. Maybe not quite AWD like but a huge step in that direction.

I did race Dean Boyle one run on Sunday and got a taste of the AWD envy as he absolutely raped me out of the hole. It felt pretty bad to see him jump that far ahead before I was even moving. Then only thing that more then made up for it was easily realing him in and passing him smile (sorry Dean). It's too bad you can't have an AWD car with the drivetrain loss of a FWD (without spending a fortune).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One more time just so it's clear smile the 114mph was:
-street boost
-street S-AFC settings
-street base timing
-street weight (since I don't drive with the spare anyway)(yes all seats were installed and yes I do have a stereo and speakers installed now)
-street exhaust
The only changes were:
-headlight removed (whoopdy-doo)
-drag radials
The 116mph run was 94/112 octane mix and twenty some odd percent leaner on the S-AFC settings (same boost since that's all this turbo will physically flow).
It still it is, I never said when this was though....
Anyway yes you guys are right my traction is not the same on the street as at the track (about 0.20 seconds different... slicks will be a different story smile ). But 114 on pump gas with the light out and spare removed (I don't drive around with my spare anyway)... those traps accurately reflect my street performance thank you very much pimp .
(Disclaimer: I admit I'm at just about the limit of how far I'd consider taking a FWD power wise) [/qb]
Don't worry Mikey, we'll welcome you to the AWD club when you finally see the light. If we converted Steve, we'll convert you too.
12.94 IN A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE.
Who cares how he got it... You guys get behind the wheel of his car and you probably wouldn't even bust out a 13. It takes more skill to drive with less traction.
AWD is a crutch.
AWD is a crutch?
It takes serious ball's to drop the clutch at 6000rpm. Mike saw me ripping out of the hole last sunday.
I'll show you what a 1.7 60ft feels like. That'll make you drop your lunch bag and forget about it.
heheh...what balls? laugh Anyone can drop a clutch at 6000 rpm. I do that all the time. Only difference is if your car moves or just sits there and spins...hehehehe...never see my one- wheel-7000rpm-bouncing-off-the-limiter-burnout on my fwd? hehehehe... laugh tongue
You think it doesn't take balls to launch a FWD with slicks? Imagine the sound of snapping axles.
Is AWD superior for launching? Yes definately. But that just means that you have to compensate it with a better driver if you are a FWD pilot.
kudos to Mike.
I did learn how to drive a FWD DSM. (2.1 60' time on Aquatreads...)
It still sucks goat ass compared to an AWD launch.
You clowns are forgetting something here.. I used to be on the other team. I've lived both sides. You don't see me switching back to FWD do ya?
12.94 in a FWD.. ya, that is impressive. Even more impressive if he could do it again. I recall him mumbling something about only getting 13's last time at the track... tongue
He mighta passed some of you that last day. I doubt he would have passed me.
Bring it on 2 wheel peel!
(Damn, it sucks that I can't pick on PPG as much as I used to now. He STILL drives like my grandma on a duck hunt though.)
Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!
Agreed. That's quite an accomplishment and it should be recognized. Now, having said that, I'll say that there isn't a single performance car out there that is FWD. FWD sucks ass. eek
...nomex suit on...
