Err, I owned the VR4's as well in the stock 205/55R16 size. I was rather impressed with them. Good wear, really good performance for the price (especially while you're getting used to a car, very forgiving), and decent traction in messy weather.
They're no Dunlop SP9000, but then they're not $300 a tire, either. (:
