Here are the details:

Eagle Alloys 172 - 16x7.5 +38mm offset.
Kumho Ecsta 712 225/50VR16
'93 AWD Talon

These things want to follow every imperfection in the road. I started with them on my '92 Laser AWD, and even after 2 alignments they still want follow ruts.

I thought maybe it was something wrong with the frontend, so I was hoping for better results when I put them on the Talon. Still the same thing.

Is anybody else running these tires? Have you had any issues like this?

What psi are the tires at?
Underinflation can cause this.

I have to agree with Rob. A 50 series tire is nothing. It's only a 225 as well, there shouldn't be a problem.

Scott, what pressures are you running in them?

I run 16x7.5 +40mm wheels with 225/50/16 Kumho 712 tires on my 2G. It's the each same thing... The car tramlines quite bad. It follows every imperfection in the road. You definitely need to keep both hands on the wheel. eek

The reason this happens is because of the wheel offset & width. Our suspension was designed for a specific track width. When we install 7.5" +40mm offset wheels, it increases the track width and causes the tramline effect. I won't bore you with the technical explanation. Suffice to say that alignment settings will not eliminate this characteristic. It's just something you have to live with, or get a different set of wheels.

When I had those tires they did that when they were fairly worn. My Yoko ES100's are doing that now since there is almost no thread left.

I have Toyo's Proxes, (17")... Never again.
Same problem like yours, the car goes everywhere. I'm scared to punched it when I'm in first gear....I'm an accident waiting to happen.

Need more power...

Well, I tried taking them up to 44psi, and the steering is definately lighter, but it didn't make much of a difference to the "wandering" problem.

Guess I'll just have to learn to live with it.

My car did this terribly with my 17/8 40mm offset rims with Yokohama ES100's 235/40/17 till I had the toe brought back in line....it was way off. I run 37 psi in the tires too.

Good reading ... gives me some idea of what to tell the guys when I finally get a chance to take the car in for an alignment.

took it to midas, he took it for a test drive said my car has nothing wrong with it....he's blaming all the problems on the 18's im riding on, which is bull, cause i had the same problem with the stock 16's. anyways he tightened all the bolts in the rear suspenion.

one thing that i noticed the back passenger side tire tends to lean out more from top to bottom like this \, i dont know if its supose to be like that or something might be bent....
