How do you tell the difference between the regular JDM AWD tranny and the switchable 2WD/AWD one that Marco sells?

I'm assuming that it would switch to FWD and not rear.

If I do have one, can you actually drive the car in a 2WD setup. I doubt it, but its worth asking.

Anyone know?

Thanks

There are couple little tags on both the tranny and transfer case saying FWD<->AWD. It's just two retainer bolts that you remove to convert it to FWD. Yes, you can run the car in FWD indefinitely if you choose. [Linked Image] I got mine in about a month ago... no problems so far and shifts smoothly.

Do you save gas mileage when in FWD mode? I think you would..

What do I need to convert my AWD to a switcheable one? [Linked Image]

And are there any trannies that can allow us to switch "on the fly?"

Leon: Yes, you will save on gas on FWD mode.
I had severe second gear grinding and decided to buy a J-spec Galant tranny with the transfer case from Magnus, instead of rebuilding my old tranny.
No, it does not switch on the fly. You have to go under the car to remove the retainer bolts.
