What Edmunds.com Says: Toyota will eschew all likeness to the Volta concept in the design of its next "super car."
What We Know: Contrary to rumors, Toyota's Supra replacement will in no way, shape or form, bear any resemblance to the Giugiaro-designed Volta concept which appeared in Geneva last March. Toyota does, however, plan on delivering a high-performance sports car along the lines of the departed Supra some time between the end of 2006 and 2007. This two-door, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sport coupe might be built on an all-new platform, although it's expected that Lexus will not build its own variation. The car will probably be priced under $30,000 and some sort of prototype could very likely debut at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show

My guess based on the fact it will have a 500 hp V10 and some sort of hybrid drivetrain and also rumoured to have the Lexus name over here it will be around the $100,000 mark. Not for poor people.

I'm holding the Jan. 2005 edition of Road & Track in my hands. They state " According to insider information the next Supra will be a convertible with a detachable hardtop, powered by either a V6 or V8." This will probably be a semi-affordable car. $30,000 US sounds resonable.
There is also a Toyota "444F" in development. This is the $150,000 V10 or V12, 450hp car that some of you are thinking about.
Either way, it looks like we will have a few more sweet sports cars coming to us from Toyota.
