The idea is simple. Buy in bulk, installation will be easy, fast and painless.

The roll bars will be needed to follow the strict NHRA rules on going faster then 11.49sec or 135MPH in the 1/4 mile. The roll bar will be good up to 9.99sec.

The cages will be made of chrome moly. While chrome moly's mass/volume isn't lighter then mild steel, the rule books suggest that the mild steel tubing is have a thicker wall when compared to chrome moly. Therefor, a chrome moly cage will be lighter.

The idea is to buy all the tubing in bulk, have the roll bar test fitted in my full interiored, straight bodied 1G. We plan to have several cages cut to have a painless install into another 1G with only minor cutting.

The roll bar will be a standard 6-point roll bar, constructed of chrome moly (greater than 1-5/8" x .083 wall thickness). Pricing will be underway just after Christmas so I'd like to start gauging some interest now so I can get an idea of who would be interested.

I like the idea. Are you thinking of shipping considerations in your design? Your market would increase dramatically if shipping across Canada wasn't too painful.

I am not sure if the IHRA is the same rule/design as the NHRA. Would the bar be compatible with both?

We can consider shipping and selling the pre-cut pieces to those who want to do the installation themselves.

The roll bar will be IHRA and NHRA approved.

I'll post back once I have a firm price in place. We will have to price out materials and installation fees.

I'll post back with a hard price for the do-it-yourself weld-in kit and the installed kit.

Right now I just want to gauge interest.

Sounds like a great idea, but you are PROBABLY going to find ChromeMoly VERY expensive. You MIGHT want to consider offering mild steel with a thicker wall as well. It would add some weight, but I am guessing it would lower the cost considerably.

Also it very hard for the average guy to install a ChromeMoly cage because it need to be tig'd not mig welded.

Ya I would be in for sure but I would rather have pre-cut pieces which I could get welded up myself locally or if installation isn't too much more I guess I could get you to do it Tim. Mild steel I agree is more "user friendly" for the do it yourselfer but If you were going to do the install and know how to Tig then that's the way to go.

Okay, the installer is a great TIG welder. We will option out both chrome moly and mild steel. Like I said, I won't know prices until AFTER the holidays, so be patient and let me know if you are interested.

I'd like to get a feeling and gauge interest for what materials, if you want the kit or it fully installed.

Hey Tim,
I guess if this will prevent me from getting kicked off the track, you can count me in too.

I'm probably going to be in the same boat. Goal is 11's on pump/meth/cams next year, and I don't want to get kicked off Cayuga or St. Thomas next year.

I would be looking for a bolt in kit.

If it is not against the rules, probably removable front door bars would be good for those that drive all week on the street and go to the track on the weekends. I have seen these on cars but often wondered if they pass tech at the track. If they don't then forget I said anything.

Just wondering if there has being any sort of movement into getting these roll bars started or even priced out yet?
