the new GTR's transmission can only withstand 15 launches with their launch feature before needing a new tranny.
It costs 800 dollars in special tranny fluid
Couple other crazy things
ohh, a brake job is 6500 dollars, and if it breaks down, a special team has to come out to work on it.

Pfffffft.......I'll just stick to my DSMs. I can buy like 4 1Gs for the price of the brake job on the GT-R. Then I can launch each 1G atleast 15 times, before I break something, for a total of 60 times or so. Take that GT-R

It's on teh Interweb so it must be true! I wouldn't be surprised. It's almost like neutral dropping on an automatic but an automatic with 500hp or whatever it has.

It's hard to believe because this is supposed to be an 'every man's' supercar, so it's supposed to be affordable over the long run, not just for the purchase.
But treatment like this also fits the mould for 'supercar', and gives owners a feeling of exclusivity with 'special treatment'. Nissan doesn't want to fall into the same trap the NSX did, and have people thinking of it as just an 'overpriced Skyline'.

From what I've read and seen on TV, Nissan spent millions of dollors and countless hours on R&D so that the GT-R could match or excede the Porsche 911 in every aspect. I have a hard time believing they would release the car that is only capable of making 15 launches.

Regular launches ya, but with their launch program where it's like a stutter box, is what kills it apparently.
Do you think any brake job on a super car is cheap?

I'm sure it's very expensive to replace the brakes, but I don't think they would send a special team to come out to work on the brakes.

$6500 seems high; the GT-R is sporting Brembo's with normal pads and rotors all around.
That sounds more like a brake job for a Porsche/Mercedes/whatever carbon ceramic composite.
