Dsmers,

My 2G made to 200000 km today with no crankwalking yet.

I never done this before but I am sure someone here already did.
My plan is to refresh my front suspension with new parts and
I need your recommendation in what would be best to replace.

If you know, please list both part # and description.

Already installed:
Tein SS Coil over kits
PowerSlot rotors + Hawk pads (thanks Ziggy)

Thanks in Advance

Front sway bar end link kit: MB892981
Rear sway bar end link kit: MB892982
It's one kit per corner.

Front lower straight arm left: MR296295 right: MR296296
Front lower curved arm left: MR296287 right: MR296288
Those should include bushings and ball joints.

No prob!
Note: I had to fix the last of the part numbers, I gave you a P/N for '97+ and realized yours is a '96.

OK! The only difference is:
Front lower curved right is MR MR296288 and not MR296292

It's AWD right? I'd ditch the OEM and go with some Energy Suspension Master Kit bushings. May as well get some bushings that are going to make your car feel a little tighter.

Alex,

There used to be a "kit" which included the knuckle and bother lower control arms for less than the individual costs of the arms. Call Adam Clay @ Eastway Chrysler for info.

I'd recommend replacing any arm with ball joints, the tie rod ends and sway bar end links.

In the rear be prepared to cut out the rear toe control arm.

Rayan, yes it's AWD 96 model.
I found energy susp. kit at extremepsi.com for 125 US

How difficult it would be to remove bushing off new arm and
insert energy bushings?

This job will performed under drive way conditions.

Jeff,
That would be a great if Adam Clay can pull that kinda kit for me. Excellent resource, thanks.
I'll call him during next week and post prices, availability,
and part number here.

Thanks Jeff, Ryan

Curved arm with bushings and ball joint
80$ for each? They normally go for 200$ plus

This is got to be a rebuild or something.

I've never done the bushings myself, however I have access to acetylene, so I'll just burn mine out. wink

Ghislain should chime in here, he did the bushings on his 95 AWD.

I did bushings in my car and found that they have to be pressed out and not just burned as there is a metal sleeve that has to come out.

The sleeve is no problem. Burn out the rubber, hammer out the sleeve with a chisel and punch.

That's how we do it at work. wink

If its off the car already, have a machine shop press them out. Replacing bushings isn't fun and burning them out is quite toxic. Remember how much fun the prothanes were to put in Ryan? You would still suggest that method? PITA for sure.

For a big ass mount like that, no. But for small bushings, yes. Make sure the area is well ventilated.

But that's just me, if it won't pound out, burn it. demon

Front lower curved arm left: MR296287 right: MR296288
Those should include bushings and ball joints.

Thanks for posting those parts Rob
I received my suspension parts, however:
the "Front sway bar end link kit: MB892981" only gave me one
link. I just called mitsu and that part is only for one link. I thouht this will include both links because this is a kit.
Anyway are the links on both front sides are the same? If they are than I will reorder another link.
Thanks

That's what I'd expect. The "kit" is all the parts for one end of the sway bar. It is the same kit for both sides. CAPS says the quantity on the car is 2 for each kit. Sorry!

Excellent Rob. I will order another link!
I am also replacing engine mounts:
For anyone looking for parts they are:
Rear Engine Mount 2Ga AWD: MB911266
Transmission Mount 2Ga AWD: MB911272

Rob, do you know what are the part numbers for rear hatch struts both sides?

No prob!
The struts are..
MR100467 left
MR100468 right

I would recommend waiting for Canadian Tire's sale that happens every so often. I think it's buy one strut get the other for half price.

Napa carries the hatch struts, they are $120 for last I checked.

FYI, Ziggy also sells the curved arms and has new lower arms with metal bushings, I've been eying the later.

You will notice a big difference with Poly bushings too. There with Energy Suspension or Prothane. The Prothane ones are supposed to be stiffer and people say it's better to use them on a car that's not a DD but that's subjective imo. Some people like a stiff ride, some don't.

You mean these? laugh

[Linked Image]

They are very nice! I had poly bushings in the inboard side of that control arm, but they'd only last a couple years before they'd stretch and become sloppy.

[Linked Image]

These new arms with the spherical bearings will resolve that problem.

Be forewarned: I am told in order to use them, you need to re-inforce other areas. I also sell a set where only ONE end is converted to spherical bearings, as these are apparently not as hard on the car itself..

Have I done this? No, not yet. But I do plan to weld some reinforcing plates on the inboard pickups as a safety precaution.
