Anyone have any feedback on the Fidanza Carbon / Kevlar 2.1 clutch kit? I'm debating getting an ACT 2100, Exedy OEM clutch replacement or this Fidanza.

What would you guys suggest for a 2G FWD with an Evo 16 and about 20lbs of boost. Won't be racing the car. Just the odd 3rd and 4th gear pulls.

ACT is about $450, Fidanza is roughly $360 and Exedy stocks is $185. Please help boys, I need to make a decision quick.

I had an ACT 2600 and it was great, gives you a pretty decent leg workout too wink

I'm currently running an ACT 2600 in my TSi AWD now, and had a 2600 also in my old TSi AWD... I love those clutches, but make sure that you're running an OEM clutch master.

I've heard very good things about the Fidanza 4.3. Ghislain uses one of those...

I have a 2600 too.

I haven't driven with it yet.

Do you guys find the stock clutch release fork and t.o.b. are adequate?

I've heard of guys upgrading forks when switching clutches

I've been using stock release fork and t.o.b. and it seems fine. Shifts with no issues.

Sergio, ACT2100 & ACT 6 puck sprung would be a perfect combo for your setup.

He's going with the Exedy OEM replacement....hopefully should be enough with just mild upgrades?

I would think if he's planning on running 20 psi all the time on a bigger turbo than stock, it'sreally not worth it to install the exedy for the small price difference to get an ACT 2100 or something similar....for the amount of time it take to swap the clutch (especially if you are paying for the labour), I'd suggest going with something better than the Exedy, that's just my $.02....someone else might not agree

I appreciate the input, however, I don't call almost $300 a small price difference. Maybe to some it isn't but to be it's a lot. The 16G is pretty much a stock turbo is it not? I would think on a FWD an OEM replacement with very mild mods should be sufficient. I will find out one way or another because the clutch is on it's way.

Thanks again for everyone's feedback.

An OEM clutch can get roasted if you turn the boost up on a 14b. E16g @ 20psi should smoke it for sure!

...but it will really depend on how nice you are to it. If you aren't beating on it, if you let it cool between pulls, maybe it'll be OK for a while.

Rob,

I think you know me pretty good. When do I ever beat on my cars? smile I'm starting to think this wasn't such a good idea frown Is there another alternative less expensive than the 2100?

pimp I think you can smoke it up.

I run a Centerforce Dual Friction in my FWD and it's held up fine after around 70,000km and at least 80 1/4 mile passes.
The key is to break that one in properly.
I think they are around $400 these days.

Probably not a popular pick for DSM because the AWD guys tend to smoke them or have trouble during the break-in period. Not the case for FWD, but patience is required.

Stock clutch is rated for around 250 crank torque. 20psi on 16g will push around 300+ torque.

In my under-qualified opinion I would say it would be better to wait and put the extra cash together to go with something a little stronger. Call it overkill if you want but look at it my way.

One man with a rifle 1km away taking pot-shots at you is grounds enough to call in fast-air which generally will bury 200'000 worth of rounds in or around that man, overkill? or peace of mind!

If you WERE to burn through an OEM replacement then you would pretty much be a square one again anyway. The life of an aftermarket one with mild mods should outlive a OEM clutch, and would give you the ability to have a spirited launch everynow and then. just my $.02

PS: If your with americans they'll call in hellfire missles or even predators which are worth more than all our cars put together!......ONE GUY!

I've been in the situation of saving money, or doing it right, with this very problem. Perhaps not at the same scale, but the same cost. When I installed my ACT 2600, I had the choice of an OEM Clutch Master, or an aftermarket Master... I chose the cheaper option, replaced it twice in the period of 2 months (if that) and then ended up spending the money on the OEM.

But hey, if you've already ordered what's done is done. Just food for thought, perhaps.

You're going to want to go with a 2100 at least.

Well I decided to stick with the Exedy OE replacement so time will tell.

Thanks everyone for their input.

Miguel, the ACT 2100 and a 6 puck will be the best bang for your buck.

OEM will not hold together for to long.

Im currently running this setup with a stock TOB & fork - well over 100 launches, and the car still grabs violenlty.

Ive tried the ACT2100 and ACT disc, but it did not hold up too long. It may have been my launching style that wore out the disc.

The 6 puck is great with the 2100! (

Since your not planning on racing Id go with the 2100 and street disc.. save you eatting up ur flywheel with a 6 puck. I run the 2600 and street disc in my awd.. works amazing.

6 pucks don't eat flywheels. Overheating a stock clutch will eat a flywheel though.

This is what my Exedy OE replacement looked like after ~30,000 KMs.

Nice Clutch Lucian.

Long story short "Sergio" I would recommend that you install a Fidanza whenever your stock replacement fails.

One of the reason I now gravitate towards Fidanza Clutchs is their cost and lighter pedal feel. I now run a Fidanza 4.3 and it has given me two tears of good hard use without any issues. Now I know that ACT is the norm; I experimented with the 2100 and 2600 both with a sprung conventional Disc. Both held the power and worked good.

The Fidanza is as reliable as the ACT; I ran hot laps with both Clutches with similar results.

Again; what is the difference; cost and pedal pressure.

For your need a 3.2 would probably be good.

I have an ACT 2600 and Fidanza light weight flywheel. Love the combo but it took some getting use too and I must have stalled the car a half a dozen times after getting it back with the new clutch. Now I'm use to it and love it.

Oh yeah; guess I'm all backwards.

I have a Fidanza 4.3 Clutch and an ACT Flywheel...
