Well of course he's pushing things, but that's the point isn't it? I mean, if you wanted to be completely safe and have parts that are engineered for that kind of abuse, that's when you build a motor to run 12's, to feel "safe".
Isn't that the point of what we all try and do? Push the limits?
There are Nay-Sayers out there who will pick apart the accomplishment, like saying "Oh, balance shafts pulled out isn't stock block anymore yo..."
Or laugh at the fact that this stock 19 year old motor has had hundreds of passes on it.

Right on Jim! Stock 7 bolt FTW! Just to point out, Daniel Daraiche has gone 9.2 in his Colt, stock 6 bolt bottom end, 2700lbs. Testament to good Mitsubishi Engineering, and proof you don't need no "stage 3" to reliably do those times. He's from DSM Quebec (coltdie). He went 9.92 not 9.2.

This is awesome, check out the haters getting all worked up about him running 9's on a stock block PAT FISHER: "Put all the go-fast goodies you want on a "stock block". IF it holds together, maybe you'll go fast like that guy. But it WILL blow. Possibly wrecking everything else under the hood. I don't see the point when there's the option to build a motor that will take it day in and day out. I guess it's so he can claim to be the "Fastest stock block guy". hahaha." Lol, these are the so called "hardcore" guys that overtorqued an oil filter, wrecked a built motor in their race car, and called that just "racing" Here they are getting all worked up about a guy who runs 9's on a stock block. AWWWW ! I think this is the first group of people I have come across that are obviously quite jelous of Mike's accomplishment. What else would you expect from Forcepower Funny, on another board Mike Rizz mentions something about haters coming out of the woodworks. I guess Forcpower sits at the top of that list, jokes!

I enjoyed Mark's response: Like so many other things, another pointless exercise IMO. Now I guess we have to ask "what is a stock block. ??? Has it ever been opened up. Does it have stock bearings. Does it have stock rings. Are the balance shafts eliminated. Has it had any machining done. etc. etc. etc. I don't know the answers to any of the above, I just don't see the point in what Mike is doing. Guess it's time for all the shops building motors to pack it up. lol Of course, lets pick it apart to try and discredit it.

Hi guys, thank you for the kind words. Just joined this forum but probably know many of you. Reza, I am curious who that was and where they posted it? I would say who ever said that obviously dosen't know me or the car! My goal has always been the 9 second pass. The fact that is was a " record " was just a bonus. As many of you know, this was far from a one run wonder. The car has been running low 10's for a few years, and high 10's for the last six years. Funny, I guess that is not " day in and day out " per the quote above. It literally has at least 600 runs on the block ( which is the original ). I enjoyed Mark's response: Like so many other things, another pointless exercise IMO. Now I guess we have to ask "what is a stock block. ??? Has it ever been opened up. Does it have stock bearings. Guess it's time for all the shops building motors to pack it up. lol Of course, lets pick it apart to try and discredit it. Just to clarify: Never opened up other then to remove balance shafts ( 10 years ago ) Stock, original bearings Stock, original rings Stock, orignal rods/pistons Stock, original front case Stock, original crank NO machine work ever. Last time on the dyno ( 3 years ago ) it made 596 ( Dynojet ). The car was trapping 135 at that point. I may strap it down on a dyno just to see where it is at. The plan is to retire it this winter. I honestly think it could go 9.8 with better traction. Here is a better video with a view from the starting line and in car, you can clearly see how much I am working the steering wheel into third. http://www.streetfire.net/video/rizzotti-racing-talon-first-stock-block-dsm-in-the-9s_2085769.htm

Nice to see you here Mike I'll give you a quick run down: According to them, you "supposedly" know who they are and were scared to run them at the Buschur shootout as well, well atleast thats what they claim and what I read on their forum, lol. Wish I could pull up Pat or Mark Fishers post but they've locked up their forum to the public now. I don't blame you for not knowing who or what Forcepower is, but you can consider them a die hard haters club Being # 1 on tooners is their definition of Hardcore. A couple of us guys here have gone decently fast on stock blocks too, so Forcepowers original hatred was mainly to us Team Pump gas & Meth guys. They were definately pretty angry about us going fast on oem stuff . They thought my 10's on pump gas/meth and stock block was a one time wonder, but then they really started working up a storm when others started going even faster on stock blocks, like yourself and Todd M. Now anyone who goes fast on a stock block, pump gas/meth, or has a full weight car is enough to get a thread going over there, on when that stock motor will blow. A few of their members claim this negative publicity is good for their business. Yup I could picture a line up of DSMer's knocking on their front door RIGHT NOW!

Now I have to join their forum! I do not concern myself with who I am racing, I race my car and cannot control what happens in the other lane. I don't care who I race or how quick it is. I have always said I don't mind loosing to a faster/quicker car. I have never been " scared " of racing anyone. Are these the same guys that cried about a car that had a Nitrous bottle in the car at the Shootout? If so, I do know their car because they cried about loosing on BR's forum. I believe their car ran high 10's at the Shootout. sh!t, I ran a 11.1 with the clutch slipping the entire length of the track! I swapped the clutch when I got home that same week and went back to the track, ran a 10.3, 10.1, 10.1, 10.0, 10.0. Yes I am very scared! Now I am fired up!! :

Thanks for the welcome guys! Welcome to the fourms! Any chance you would be making a stop by Sparta drag strip this season coming up Where is it? The plan is to retire it this winter. Define "retire it." Put it on a engine stand and leave it my garage.

Welcome, Mike. Thanks for clarifying how stock and reliable your block is The trash talk is from a certain shop near London, Ontario. http://www.forcepower.ca/forumsBut it looks like you have to sign up to get in these days. You wouldn't last a day in there since you are faster and quicker than their shop car. Thank you Rob. I checked out their site. Other then saying they have " Canada's fastest AWD " I did not see any numbers for their shop car. I signed up for their forum, let's see if I get approved.

Good luck on that approval Mike, but welcome to Club DSM Canada. Their "race team" consists of a bunch of highly over-built cars running low 12s/high 11s on 35R's, and their mentality is that it takes an Eagle 4340 crank to run more than 600WHP. Their "700whp" Talon that runs mid 10's is a testament to their idiocy. When you get the chance, read up on their headgasket theory, it's priceless. And to answer your question, yes they were the bunch of Marys whining at the shootout because they lost (which is on video, and it's spectacular). Their mentality is hardcore or nothing, and if you look at their "trophy" box if you want to call it that, most of it is completely fabricated on their terms no matter what anyone else says. "Quickest vs Fastest", "We were once almost the winner of this but the winner had this and we didn't think it was fair so we consider us the WINNARZZ!!!" Mention that their car isn't as fantastic as they think it is on their forums. They'll ban you faster than you can spell DSM. Come on up to Canada, take the trip from your neck of the woods and run a few passes at Sparta (St Thomas) with the rest of us next year. You'll be pretty much guaranteed that Forcepower will be there in full force, and quite a few of the faster guys on DSM Canada to lay down some "Grassroots" beatdowns. From a technical standpoint, OH MY GOD do they need a new webmaster.

Good day/evening Mike and welcome to the club.
Do not know if you remember me but I'm the guy with the thick french accent that always make a point to drop by and say hello.
The Red 1Ga has always been my favorite and to see that you have got your 9 sec slip on a stock block make your "Sled" the coolest in my books.
See you at the SO next year.

Ghislain Hi Ghislain, yes I remember you. I believe I talk with you at most of the Shootout's I have attended. Was that you at the NY area rest stop on the way home from this year's Shootout? Thank you for the compliments.

I think Norwalk should be an annual "pilgrimage" for any DSMer Sorry to hear about the breakage, Todd. Look at the bright side, though...I am sure you just made their X-Mas over at Farce Powa. I am sure they are jumping for joy saying "told you it would break".... Anyways, look forward to seeing your 9 second run next year...

Well I thought I would make it public that on my last run of this season I missed a shift into second and pretty sure I floated a valve north of 9K. I guess that was enough for the poor stock valve train to give up. My plan for next year is to throw on another head with some upgraded springs and a better set of cams. The same old head bolts will be re-used and again an off the shelf Mitsubishi composite head gasket. Same untouched block from Kevin's 91 Laser as well.
Oh and another small change... automatic.
Welcome to the club Mike.
Thats sucks, I had a similar last run. I missed a 3-4 shift as well, datalog showed 10200rpms! I was lucky though, no piston to valve contact. I have the Crower springs/retainers (not BC), I know some don't like them but they made my day

Todd that sucks, but at least it is a fairly easy fix. I have Kiggly springs/retainers and am constantly shifting in the 9300-9500 Rpm range. Oh and another small change... automatic.
I will also be making a transmission change, but not to an auto.
