I had the car up and it seems that the support bearings are getting worn. So I was looking at the following

http://www.torquesolution.com/product-p/ts-ec-dsb.htm just wondering if anyone has heard of or used these sort of things as far as an upgraded solution.
I scoured RTM site but couldn't find anything other than OEM. I dont want to advertise for another company and would prefer to get something like these through Ziggy if possible. I am in no rush but would love some feedback on these if any have used them

Life time warranty I say give'er perhaps Ziggy could inquire about sourcing them for you.. He is always up for suggestions on products. Heck might even be a good OE replacement alternative.

Those bushings from Torque Solutions don't replace the carrier bearings themselves, they replace the stock rubber bushings the carrier bearings mount to the underbody with. I suppose, they're not a bad idea, sort of like various aftermarket bushings for control arms, subframes, trailing arms, etc--replace the stock soft rubber bushings with firmer urethane, aluminum, etc. Talk to Ziggy, he might consider carrying them (or at least bringing a set in for you).

Interesting little Trinkets.

I'd probably buy a set if the price was right.

I would too.. and for $45 it seems to be a good deal compared to most aluminum bushings!

I haven't had a GOOD look at the carrier bearing assemblies. Also, I have had guys replace them, but usually on 15 year old cars. IF the OEM rubber lasts 15 years, you sure you want to put aluminum in there? Keep in mind aluminum has ZERO give...

I can look into bringing them in if you guys want, but doubt that too many guys will end up using them. I would likely NOT get a discount on them, as I have never dealt with this place before....but I could save some by getting shipped within the US and several sets at once...

And I agree, the price seems very good. Especially considering they are anodized. If I were to try to make them myself, I really couldn't charge any less...

I would be up for a set!
I got 2 new carriers ready to go on. I was actually waiting to get unlazy and order a set of these before I install the carriers.

I would think that most of the vibration/movement would get taken up by the rubber on the carrier itself, I measured the movement of a new oem one, and the rubber stretched if I remember.. at least half an inch each direction.

I considered buying these before but never got around to it, as I got new oem stock bushings down there.
Ziggy, if you happen to get these in the near future I'll buy a set.

OK, apparently I was "misunderstanding" or "misinterpreting" their function. Apparently these do not go INTO the carrier baearing assembly, but are used for mounting the carrier bearing assembly to the car! Looks like there is interest, let's do a quick and dirty group buy. I will see if he will give some kind of discount, depending on how many sets we get. We can definitely save some shipping by having a bunch shipped to my US address. As long as we are doing this quickly, exchange rate should be good.

Pricing should be no more than $50./set at my door, plus shipping from me to you and taxes. I have never dealt with this guy before......IF he is willing to ship USPS, you MIGHT do better getting it direct to you...

I will start a separate thread for guys to list their names. If you want an EXACT price before you order, then please just order directly from the US, as I won't know it until we place the final order.

What kind of labor is involved in installing these. I am still unsure of where they go and if they would be benificial to me. I don't really know what they are replacing. Would anyone have any pics?

No pic, but on a dsm there are 2 bearings/supports that the driveshaft hangs from.

The 2 mounting spots on each of these supports use a rubber bushing and "washers" to mount to the body. These rubber bushing alow for play and are most likely rotted on most dsm's.

The install would simply be unbolting the 2 nuts on each bearing/support, removing the rubber, and poping these babys in.

However I have heard of the nut/stud stripping or breaking on rusted/seized fasteners.

Perfect. Right on, thanks Mike. That clears it up. For some reason I thought they were for the axles, not the driveshaft.
