I actually tried to buff up the headlights with Mothers Aluminum polish. Didn't seem to make much of a difference this time around. Yes that's soap on the driveway, I took the pic last weekend. I hadn't actually washed the car since the clear coat was still drying on the fenders, I just washed the dust off the wheels. They got a little dirty while my friend was cleaning up the fenders. Best thing of all was this was all done for FREE last Sunday in about 5 hours while I sat and watched my friend work at it. The rust was actually grinded out, new metal welded in, tacked up and grinded down. No bondo used. He told me that was the REAL way to do it Front bumper was also painted properly. The original paint was all grinded down, he did a base, primer, 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear. Says the paint on the front bumper should last a long time. Hood is a carbon fiber one from CF tech in Hamilton.

I've tried the kit Permatex makes on other vehicles & the results weren't that great (well not compared to some of the other results I've seen). I think the key is to get a kit with sanding disks & buffers you can put on a drill. Elbow grease alone doesn't seem to get the best results. Think Meguires & 3M make kits that are good.
Also see your missing the front emblem. If you need/want to run a front emblem, I'm pretty sure JNZ has come out with reproducion emblems, that look just like the stocker. Their the raised, embossed ones, not some cheesy vinyl or something.

Why not get rid of the indent for the emblem then Reza? This front bumper was actually a spare white one I had. My old one had it removed too and I liked it that way. I don't mind the Eagle outline. Door jams still have all sticker, just the front, back and sides of the car have it removed. I want people to think my car is a pos esi from the back

Well, here's my '99 gsx. It's been one hell of a journey to get the car to look the way it does today. I picked it up about two years ago and since then, did a 6bolt swap (balance shaft removed)arp head steads, tubular mani and 16g, fmic (which isn't connected, anyone with a tig could help me out here ;)) bully stage 3 clutch, fidanza lwfw, hks 3" cat back, link v3 (help shandon lol)tokico whites and eiby pros (1.5"), autometer gauges, had to replace the steering rack, column, pager alarm, all four rotors, calipers and pads (oe), I've pretty well restored the entire interior. Those wheels are a strange fit, they're 18x7.5 34mm offset. The tires aren't the right size, they're a 215/35/18. I'm looking for a set of 225/40's or 235's. Other than that, the car runs great! It's my second dsm ('91 tsi before) and probably won't be my last one. I'd like to get my hands on 1ga winter beater! Enjoy the pics and thanks for looking!

Somehow I overlooked your post Mike. Nice looking GSX. You should bring it by Ray Friel tonight if you are playing hockey. Would love to see it up in person.
BTW, if you ever want to trade that ugly mis-matched black interior for my super sexy grey interior, just let me know.

HAHA thanks Yan, in fact. we're playing for the next 6 weeks at bobby mac every monday at 9pm (pick up - $15/hr). You're welcome to come out that! A good buddy of mine drives a 2001 DB7 vantage, he brings it out to the games too. I finally got my phone replaced, same number. I'll pm it to you and text me to arrange a game night/cruise if possible.

Nice shots Alex. What hardware did you use to mount your front plate? Want to get mine at that exact spot.

Nice shots Alex. What hardware did you use to mount your front plate? Want to get mine at that exact spot. Thanks Yan. Previous owner mount his license plate by screwing it straight through the bumper. I don't recommend you do that because that would hurt your DSM and eventualy you'll endup repainting your bumper to correct that. Too warm to have the top down? Actually yes you are right! The sun is just too strong in the desert. 40c+ and dry . Sergio's (miguel barros) free aluminum rad with knock off slim fans keeps temps stable to my surprise.

I just painted my bumper so there's no way I'm doing that. I will be trying to come up with a bracket that mounts underneath somehow.

Hey Yan, someone on the board, I think maybe Ryan L or Anthony H, told me you get those super strong earth magnets. Mount some inside the bumper, and some to the plate, and connect it to the bumper that way!

I'm guessing the DSM might not either.

If it's in the bumper, it is pretty far away from any sensors. And things like the crank angle sensor are just a big magnet anyways
