Not much, its just simple black on the steel parts and clear coat on top of the sand blasted aluminum parts. Message me for more info Rob.. are you clear coating the tranny? I read somewhere that it needs to breath thru the poors??? Ive never paid much attation to detailing mine, but Ive got it all ripped apart and started cleaning the case. Hugh? ITs been masked to the living death, just the exterior was cleared. All internals, and holes were masked and plugged. Powder is different than painting how? Not sure what you were reading. it says the tranny breathes thru the aluminum ?? lol Also Jay, if you can take the time to mask some of the critical internal features, like races that wont come out, the shifter linkage, and maybe a few other obvious places, sand blasting does wonders for the stubburn corroted exterior. Sometimes cleaning it still leaves spots looking black ish.

You read wrong, lol.

I wonder if he was concerned about 'breathing' for temperatures. Generally there are parts of the car which can heat up under heavy use, and you may be concerned about the heat dissipation qualities of paint. Sure, BBQ paints (as well as others) work well for withstanding heat, but not necessarily for allowing heat to flow.
So he may have felt that under heavy abuse, the tranny/transfer case heated up, and was attempting to 'breathe' (cool) across its surface area, to which paint may only add a layer of insulation.
The moment a turbo spools, all your dreams are made possible.

I'm really surprised with all that you'd done that you didn't relocate the fuse box. That would have been the icing on the cake, so to speak.
Still looks damn good though.
Are your -AN fittings on your valve cover welded in or threaded in? I need to get the thing on the road. This winter I will focus on cosmetics such as wire tuck, black interior, and a paint job in the spring turning it into the GSX. Im running out of time, Im already two months behind schedule, I had a major case of "while its apart I might as well ....." And ya, I didnt weld my cover. Maybe next year. Exhaust manifold and turbo blanket? Link to purchase? http://www.ptpturboblankets.com/http://crdpower.com/product.sc?productId=50&categoryId=7
