I'm not sure why you think it would be so difficult to replace. I can have my manifold off in under a half hour, starting from a fully assembled engine bay. And let's be honest, if you're worried about one job being slightly more of a pain in the ass ONCE in the next TEN YEARS, a DSM is a bad choice. Touche, I attempted the removal of my intake manifold a very long time ago and had no luck getting on to the nuts. Maybe it's time for me to try again. I would love to pull my A/C compressor and do the relocation.

Well I'm working on a SMIM in a 2g, so it's a very different ball game.
But to be honest, I should have focused more on my main idea: I never need to touch my alternator, other than pulling the belts to get my timing covers off. I want to relocate a part that I never touch, to an area where it will never be touched.

How hard is it for someone to throw an angle grinder in their car and bring it to you? All that hassle just to spend 5 minutes grinding an alternator? All that driving for just 5 minutes of work is how I would be thinking about it. But I do agree, is there not someone closer that can deliver a grinder?
