I'm not racing as well but gonna drive the Colt up to watch.
I'll try it next year when I can trust the car won't implode at those speeds

Still trying to get the Colt together for the ride up, should be a nice drive.
Will be fun to see a DSM give er. Is there a place to see this years line up?

It was SO hot! But nonetheless, a great turnout..I wish I didn't have that wedding to attend to, otherwise I would have stayed a lot later. But it was definitely nice to see Jay (as usual), and to finally meet you Paul. Your car is beast!

247 km/h top speed? Awesome! must be the magic of evo 5th That was my first question too.. Really need to install mine. You can always run taller tires if you don't want to switch 5th gears (that's part of why a lot of high HP drag cars go to 26" tires besides better availability). I have the 25% taller 5th gear (for comparison, Evo 3 is about 10% taller than stock) which is what you want if you're really doing top-speed runs. Or like Paul said - you can rev out to 7.5-8k+ in 5th and get not that far off the magical 300kph mark.

What's that out of Salomon? I thought the evo was the tallest.

What's that out of Salomon? I thought the evo was the tallest. These were custom made. Not many ever got sold. They're straight-cut gears (not helical). See here: http://www.teamrip.com/5th%20gear.htmlGood luck finding a set. I bought mine from another member on here a number of years ago and I know of no one else that has or has ever even seen a set. Doesn't just drop in like the Evo 5th, though, as it requires a little machining/clearancing.

Oh man, how bad is the whine? Haven't installed it. May put it in my next tranny build when I decide to spend some money and do a really high-level build (steel forks, all new everything, etc.) Like I mentioned - this isn't just a 'drop in and go' type deal like the Evo 3 where you can install it with the tranny in the car. Yeah I read the description in the link. Bet your car would be the crazy screaming 1G once you get it all done, since it whines, haha I can imagine it'd be pretty nutty listening to it whine down the street or highway or dragstrip if you could hit 5th gear.
