Okay I will start this off since the more we plan ahead the better it will be for everyone when it comes to the nitty gritty stuff. Two Major locations would be Kingston or Ottawa since Invasion 2003 was in Toronto. Post where you would like to see it go down and only post if you will be interest in going. Too many people last year copped out last minute. Lets make this years bigger and better than last years. Besides I get corperate rates at hotels and motels with my new company package which we will for sure be taking advantage of this year. Post away people. Ottawa is my choice, end of season too would be nice.

I will say K-town. Maybe rent Shannonville for the day. Drags in morning and laps afternoon with a BBQ of course.

See the whole purpose of Invasion is to completely represent the DSM'S. I woulden't mind renting the Shannonville but unless we come strong with alot more then the 8 cars last year its a waste of time.

Hello.
I would defenately vouch for Kingston and would be willing to take arrangment to rent a Track at S'ville for whom would be interested.
Kingston is smack between Ottawa and T.O. is a hell of a cool town with lots to offer.

I'll have to say Ottawa or nothing. The boys toured out here last year, let them stay home this time.
No offence to Kingstoners but I dont think Kingston can offer what Ottawa can in terms of sh*t to do when we arent doing "meet" related activities. I've been to both cities and choose Ottawa hands down.
About the lapping, it does seem expencive, and most of our cars would probaby only be able to handle a couple of laps at a time due to brake failure if they arent BIG ASS upgrades. No use booking an expencive track for a possible low turnout, and the ones that do show might not feel they got their moneys worth if indeed their cars arent up to par in terms of longevity on the track.
I think Ottawa should be the only consideration here right now.

The only problem with staying over night is some ppl have to work on the sat or friday night and what not. To me wether it's kingston or ottowa it really doesent matter , because only 15 ppl will show up again.
I would only be able to participate in daytime acctivites since my schedual wouldnt allow anything else. So saturday morning meet would be great ,we could have a barbeque ,eat chat enjoy the dsm's then hit up a track . The less expensive it is the better it would be for the majority of the ppl. So post away but keep in mind that not every body has coin to blow on a weekend .
Gymkhana is big in Japan and considerd a cult favourite by street racers, we have it too, but we just call it Auto Cross/Time Attack, are you game? p.s METALEX MOTOR WORKS ROCKS

The reason this is planned ahead is so that people can book time off if possible and save a few pennies for the activities if yours includes staying over night. We will get hotels with my corporate rate which will be cheap and then on top of that there can be a number of people per room to split the cost, I think last year the guys that shared the room in KW it was only like 10 bucks which is by no means expensive.
I would love to see this event stretch over a long weekend so that more of the awesome member of this club can attend. Those who spent the whole Invasion together travelling and rooming through all the events were the ones who got the real experience of what DSM is all about.
My vote is for Ottawa, there are drag tracks close by since I know Tom and Chuck are always out there, they do have some big name shops in Ottawa since a few are named on in the "Hall of Honour" so with all of this as a plus it seems to be a good place to do this.
I think we owe it to those guys who drove all the way down to Toronto and then out to London and back to Ottawa in one weekend. We could have a huge caravan going out to Ottawa and maybe even a few different ones depending on when people would like to leave.
I want to do this every year, so as someone mentioned last year was a first, and I will push as hard as possible to make every years to come bigger and better.
Cheers.

I pass the torch on to someone else. I can help out as much as I can if it is being held in Ottawa but with a 9 and 6 yr old girls, I am busy with soccer, dance classes etc. I could help with locations but I honestly think this group is not into as much as a select a few. It seems like we would be inconveniencing most people if we do not have it in their backyard. Not to many people posted in this thread as of now which is not surprising. Like I said, most people here appear to not be into it.
Lastyear, the track was on the same day as the dyno as we really only had one day as there was alot of travel time arriving late Friday (11pm into T.O. for some), and leaving to go back Sunday. That leaves one day to do all. No time for anything else in between.
About Ottawa, unfortunately we have no AWD dyno's. Only 1 2WD dyno so FWD or RWD cars could potentially get it done. AWD cars need to be converted to FWD, than reverted back which is 3 hrs in itself so nt going to happen.
Ottawa's track is 30 min away from downtown on the Quebec side and is pretty crappy with uneven pavement (a few holes I think too) and a VERY short runoff and a dirt road to get into the track. Pete has been there so he could say what it is like in comparison to the T.O. tracks and if it would be worth it going there or if guys would be disappointed. It is all we have. 60 foot times only work half the time. Alot of us plan a get together with the non dsm drivers (Mustangs, F-body's, Vettes etc) as the 2WD boys will not go their (very slippery) so they take the 2 hr drive to south of Montreal to Sanair. So worth the trip but probably not for the invasion as T.O. guys will have ALOT of driving to do. (4 extra hours atleast).
So like I said, if someone wants to start organizing, gather ideas, get people who are 100% serious to get a potential head count going, and need assistance on info from Ottawa, any of the Ottawa guys would help with locations I am sure.
Chris, look for me on MSN if you want to chat privately. I would like an Invasion to happen as I am a serious hardcore DSM lover so hopefully guys would want to come out and Invade Ottawa.
It would be best for a long weekend and have most guys take Friday off for the trip down (as some of the ottawa guys did), that would leave Sat and Sun for stuff and drive home Monday. Fri night could be the night street scene. A few Mustangs and C5's and FREAKING fast honda's and VW would love to try out non Ottawa DSM's at undisclosed locations.
Sat could be the "actual" meet and greet somewhere. Sunday track day to our Luskville or Sannair or even reverse the days to make sure Sannair is open if guys want to go there (trip through Montreal) as last year Sundays was street cars as Sat was the big top fuel cars race season - 7 sec funny cars are fast)).
Perhaps sunday we can take a trip to the Corel Center so everyone can see where the Stanley Cup will be on display this summer. (I had to, could not resist, please do not turn this into a hockey thread).
Those are just preliminary ideas as a base suggestion.

I wouldn't mind Ottawa at the end of the season if the fall colours are out. There should be some nice runs over in Gatineau (Hull became extinct January 1st, and July 1st the mail will be returned 'No such place'. Quebec language police.)
I'm not a camper so for CAA members the Chateau Laurier is $197 pp per night. Regular $225 if anyones interested.
Post a date when you're ready.
Cheers Tony

Looking at "THE" Calendar, the holiday to make this event fall on the long weekend would be September 2nd that is Labour Day weekend. (So Peter you better be there if this is the date)
So we would be looking to host this event August 30th through September 2nd.
The weather should be nice still as its only early September, people have months and months to plan ahead of time, get time booked off work and save some money to spend a DSM Full weekend in Ottawa.
I will take the step in being the person to set all the arraignments if the people are looking for someone to start this off.
Tom- PM me your msn account info again please as I have changed accounts since we last talked on there and I do not have the details.
This is just food for thought......
Friday September 3rd 2004 Whatever time is best suited for most of the crew we caravan to Ottawa. Meet up with all the DSM Crew from the East and check into our hotels, cruise the streets and find all the hot spots for the street scene.
Saturday September 4th Morning Breakfast? Car Wash? Show N' Shine? BBQ Event? Night out on the Town? Whatever we decide to do.....
Sunday September 5th Track day?
Monday September 6th Breakfast Goodbyes Hit the HWY early enough to come home without major traffic issues and would be nice if it was before dinner too.
That was just some thoughts or as some people will take it wishful thinking.
Even if this does not end up being a DSM Invasion I am still going to make plans with the Ottawa boys if this weekend is indeed good for most as I know of about ten people that will go for sure not to mention their GF'S/BF'S.
Keep posting your thoughts and suggestions. The more that out on the table the more we can work with.
Cheers.

I'll do the Kingston/Shannonville camp out thing. May or may not hit the track. But if you are short of one, I might chip in to get the price break.

I have been keeping an eye on this thread... Sound like something I would love to do. To me it doesn't really matter where it is as I will have to travel no matter what. Seeing it will be the last long weekend of the summer it gives me time to plan and save some money. I am interested and will keep an eye on the details of what may happen, So in short - Count me in Matt

Only the serious ppls will travel or put a Car on a Track.
S'ville Kingston could be very convinient. Bunch of hotels and the possibility to camp on site at the Track (I would have to confirm this one) if we book a Track.
Now for the booking; I know the owner very well. I could get a hell of a good price if we decide to arrange something.
Have we come up with a date yet???
You guys come up with a date and I'll see what is available.
Having said that: Track rental normally get booked earlyer. We might have to be a little flexible.
Be constructive and a little flexible and I'll try to see what I can do.
Ghislain.

I know alot of people are not too fond of the date since september is late in the year, the only other time would be August but I would like to hold on the september date.
August dates would be... July 30th 31st August 1st and 2nd being the holliday long weeked.
I still think September is better...
let me know what you think...

Well the August long weekend is booked for me so no matter where it winds up I won't be able to make it for that weekend. You got my support for September though!

I think we should stick with the september dates, I do not wish to conflict our Invasion event with the Shootout.
I will wade out the options over the weekend if I can get in touch with Tom or Chuck, I will post back our ideas over the weekend.
Cheers.
