hi......
ive got a 90 talon tsi fwd.
tranny rebuilt in april...new bearings and new 12345 syncros.

it works mint...
heres the prob..
2 days ago...i was drivin slow to the scrapyard...
and i wasnt even givin it or nothin and out of the blue it grinded 4th bad.
i was like wtf?
so i drove it easier...u know..
i got to the wreckers..did what i had to do...
and on my way home right out of the blue...
all of the sudden 3 and 4 shift really hard!!!like pushing a cement block...weird??????????
1 and 2 work fine when i shift like normal...but 3 4 r not working properly....i know how awesome my car shifted before...and somethings wrong...
i replaced the shifter cables 2 or 3 yrs ago with wreckers ones they had alot of kms...but i broke a cable and only had 24R , no 135...
could this be a different cable problem?
or is it something in the tranny?
anyinfo would be good...
thanxs!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm... sounds like a shift fork.

Since these links aren't posted above all of the forums anymore, I'm going to use this opportunity to bring up "The Rules".

Please pay attention to #5.

We don't expect everyone to be perfect, but we DO want to see an effort being made.

Thanks.

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

whats wrong with the shift fork?
is it bent or something?, is it the rail to?
If i took it all apart and repalced the 3 4 shift fork would it fix this problem?

Will it fix the problem? Who knows! Until you have an actual look at it the problem could be many things. Check the obvious stuff like shifter and cables, shifter bushing and brackets, all the easy exterior stuff before you go yarding the trans out and tearing it apart. It could also be a shift fork or any one of a dozen different things inside the trans.

If a pin came loose holding the cable at the transmission end, it could have cocked the fitting and caused it to bind. Make sure as stated above, you check the easy things first.

My guess would be another botched clutch job causing something in the tranny to fail, either that or you just have too much crazy madd powa yo!
