It's good to have the UBB back.
Anyway I have a strange problem with my car. There is a weird sound whenever I drive the car at over 60km/h. It's a whining/growling sound. I'm afraid it could be the T-case. The thing is, the car rides very quiet below 60km/h, and anything above that that noise starts. Any suggestions?

check the fluid level in the tcase. Might as well check the tranny and diff at the same time.

if it is the transfer case, there is a lifetime recall on transfer cases for talons, so the dealer has to replace it, no matter what. so if it is, at least you don't have to pay for it.

Have you recently done your timing belt?

If so it could be the oil pump pully being 180 out of phase

I think mine is but I do nothing. wonder when it will break and destroy my engine confused

From what I've heard having the oil pump pulley 360 degrees out (not 180) results in a lot of shuttering too.

Could be a wheel bearing?

You should definitely check your fluid levels ASAP though (especially the transfer case)

Well I made an apointed at satan to do the t-case recall. I don't think it's the oil pump since my last timing belt change was 6 months ago, and the noise is recent. It's weird that the noise only happens when I'm driving above 60km/h.

If the oil pump was 360 degrees out it would be right back where it should be. check all the cv joints too.

Brian, the oil pump on the 4G63 spins at a 2:1 ratio.

It could well be 360 degrees out. There's a test where you shove a screwdriver into a hole to make sure that it's in phase with everything else. I think VFAQ describe it better than I can.

Please, if you don't know what you're talking about, don't post.

...let me know if you find out what is causing it. I think I have the same problem too. I was told it could be the hanger bearings??? that are going on the driveshaft. Do you think this could be it?

Thanks
