My car won't start at all . When you depress the clutch, and turn the key, you only hear the selenoid clicking. I've checked the fuses but everything seems to be fine. Im guessing my starter is toast. Am i right? Or is it just the main selenoid contacts? BTW, where the heck is the main contacts? Also, if it's the selenoid, do i need to take off the tranny to replace the starter? Or can i work on it while its on the car? Thnxs. Kinda weird for a 9 year old car.
I almost forgot what 2nd and reverse gear feels like.

tested the Battery???? Can u jumpstart the car? ar maybe push start it? I don't believe u need to remove the tranny to get to the starter . I thought u have a repair manual. Re-man Starters are about 200 from crappy. the starter relay for your car should be under the dash, on top of the fuse box on the underside of the relay box. BTW I FINALLY got the manual from Lorri. If your manual is the asame as mine, you should be able to find the diognostic procedure for a faulty starter (mine has) [ November 28, 2001: Message edited by: Jeremy Chin ]

dead battery, bad connection on battery, bad connection on starter, bad starter.
check these first, most likely battery or connections.

My Talon did that and the Battery was fine. The power wire from the selenoid to the starter broke. All I did was fix the wire and now it work great, and that was 4 months ago.

It wouldn't be the battery. My lights are all bright, and the fact that i 'bumped' start it. Brian, how did you reconnect the wires? Im thinking the same thing too. I do have two manuals. The factory and chilton's. But it shows the parts blown up, so im not sure if i have to take it out. Im guessing i shouldnt have too...but then again. Went to crappy tire and they want $224 for the starter. F that! Just asked my uncle to get it from his source. $165 plus taxes! [ November 29, 2001: Message edited by: Joe Esmama ]
