Vise grips maybe? Grind new flats on the flare nut and use a smaller wrench? Use a proper flare nut wrench in the first place? If nothing else works, take the flex hose off and replace it too.

use a flame wrench before anything else. and then apply a wrench & they'll turn like butter smile

Brake line is far cheaper than flex hose. Cut it and use one of those sockets from Sears that Bob Villa advertises for rounded bolts etc. Then replace the brake line.

Fire wrenches and a rubber flex hose might not be a good idea frown

Even a 6-point socket will often get them off if you cut the line. Only problem is that then you have to make a new line.

your right , in the wrong hands. But someone with the right amount of skill ie. common sense of knowning when to back off will work.

I'm about to change a brake line on one of my cars.

Since I'm planning on changing the line completely, if I run into problems I can just cut the rubber line and slip a socket up from the bottom? This doesn't seem like it would reach the top (Where you use the flare nut wrench) - so would you need a pair of vise grips on there or ...?

I don't forsee any problems myself, but just in case I like to have backups...
