Have you ever noticed a dump tube coming out of your coolant container? What causes the car to "overflow" coolant out of the dump tube?

I've recently noticed my car is dumping a lot...
Like 1 foot by foot of coolant on my drive way.

Suggestions?

Flushed the system?

You can start by trying something as simple as burping it.

eg: Open the cap tongue

A blown headgasket can cause that. Hopefully that's not the problem in your case!

Having too much coolant in your system will also cause it to spill over...to a point.
Coolant expands and contracts with heat, which is why when you look at the recovery bottle, it has two markings for low and high. When your engine is fully warmed up, the level should be at the "full mark" as the coolant expands and flows into the bottle. As the engine cools, it draws coolant back in to the system.
If you have too much coolant, it will spill out, but will stop spilling out once the proper level is reached.

I would have the system flushed and filled and checked for leaks as a first step.

I want an RS4.

Of course there's always the cheap DSMer method. Pull the lower rad hose and let it drain and then fill it back up again.

I had the same problem. It just got worse and worse. I replaced the thermostat with one from the dealership and the problem was fixed.

In that case you have to ask the question, is the car taking forever to warm up and running rich for a while?

Hey Guys,

I guess I'll have to bring it in... yahoo! Spend more money!

I'll try burping it..

Never "noticed" a problem with taking a long time to warm up. How can you tell if it's running rich?

If the car is having a hard time warming up it will run rich for an extended period of time before it's running and operating temps. Go stick your head in the exhaust fumes after starting it. Smell rich for a long time?

No problem warming up.

Heaters blow hot air after a few minutes of driving.
