Last week I took the car for a nice pull. As soon as I left off, the car ran like **** and the CEL came on. I hooked up my datalogger and I'm getting a 44 code - ignition coil. I swapped coil packs and the problem still prosists and the CEL is staying on. The car seems like it's running on 3 cylinders. Has no power, it doesnt want to rev at all. I'm at my witts end. Any ideas what else it could be? Thanks, -Dom

I had the same issue, I swapped my plug wires and it went away.

Easy. Transistor pack. Located right below the CP. Tall, flat, rectangular. Make sure you get the right one for your car, 90 is differant then 91+.

At first I thought my timing jump because the engine sounded so loud. I put in another coil pack and it seems to have it's normal hum back. Why would it throw a coil code and not a transistor code?
I'll change the caps on the weekend.
Such a **** box.

That could be about any part in the ignition system. I changed pretty much all of the system last year and finally found the problem. A wire in the transistor pack plug was loose. I changed the complete plug and soldered a new one. Problem solved! 2 weeks ago, the problem came back! Intermittent code 44 again. This time it was the transistor pack that I replaced last year that was...intermittent.

I just swapped in a good transistor unit and the car is back to normal. Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated.
