SO I have oil in my valve cover.

I think it's coming from a loose oil cap gasket, so I double it up with another one I have lying around.

Didn't work.

Tried changing the valve cover in case there was a crack. Checked it for cracks and none, even so , I put the new one on.

Still oil in valve cover.

I have no idea where it's coming from.
note, I've tightened the valve cover to 3ft lbs torque.

Anyone else have something like this happen?

Cracked oil cap? Try changing the entire cap, not only the gasket. Pretty sure it's cheap directly from Mitsu...

Your suspose to tighten the valve cover bolts more than 3ft lbs but be careful, they strip easy.

Well, I just checked My Cd manual and It says 2.2 ft lbs on one page and 2-3 on another. I would not go more than 3 in either case.

I'll check on a new cap at mitsu but in the mean time i'm still open to suggestions.

Both your oil caps probably leak. Get a new seal from Mitsu. They sell just the seals and it's not too bank busting.

I got confused because the one I looked at was in inch pounds. Your probably right.

I sealed it where it said they needed sealing (on the valve cover)

I just want to get rid of all the deamons before the car goes in for storage in mid december.

I'm sure you guys are right though about the cap.

I'll also replace all the gaskets on the rebuild during the winter Nathan.

BTW, seal number is md311638 (md103148) and the entire cap assembly is md132260 (md317439)

Thanks guys

Well, I decided to but an entire cap off mitsu cause mine are all crapped up and I don't feel like making a trip to markham for just a seal when it could be the caps that are bad.

Only like 13 bucks for the oil cap assembly. I'll also be picking up other random things that have been on the back burner...and maybe one of those baseball hats i've heard so much about.
