I am driving down a 3 lane highway (each way).
This young dude in a Merc CL55 pulls next to me and punches it. I downshift to 3rd, the clutch slips and catches....I start pulling him in and pass easily.
I think that upset him a bit, since he kept on trying his luck, but he had none.
Not bad for "stock".

Was it an AMG? If it was you need Viper power to beat that thing

I thought all CL55's were AMG's. You do need a a pretty quick car to run one of the new ones... they are mid 12 sec cars... the 03's are mid 14's though.

yeah mid 12 with **** traction. This AMG will own our asses on a roll on unless your making over 400HP with your talon, you stand no chance.

I have no idea if it was an AMG, it was the 2 door coupe.
I have a FWD, and my car kills from a roll....not exactly stock, but far from 400hp

Could of been an older CL55 because the new ones are extremely fast. They have something like 469HP and over 500 ft-ibs of torque.

Paul thats like bringing a gun to a knife fight. I had some fun with a cl55 amg and yes they are fast. tongue I had a glimmer of hope off the line then then middle age computer programming bastard pretty much left me standing still rotate

Meh you sure it wasn't the Geritol-powered SL500?

I toyed with a CL55 on the highway in the Skyline definitely had the edge on him nothing huge but off the line he would have been pwned.

In my case I know that for sure that it was the 55amg, I do trap at least 119 in the 1/4 so again he had no chance plus they have a speed limiter at 155mph where the talon does not..

Yeah trying going over 155 mph for a few minutes. Your RPM's will be over 6000 RPM while the CL55 probably be around 4500 RPM. Anyway, the CL55 is STOCK and your not.

Jesse,
Paul has a TRE tranny so regular DSM RPM speed rules do not apply to his car.

Actually AMG is a separate entity that modifies Mercs, the supercharged engine on the SL55 took over a year to develop after the SL500 release. They made an agreement in 1990 with MB to sell their tuned vehicles through dealers.

So...not stock.

Well the CL55 at 155 mph will feel like 100 mph where the DSM will feel like its going to fall apart at that speed.

Jesse, I dont' know about your car but my car is very stable at high speed, I have full suspension upgrade(not lowering springs) with bushings and brakes big enough to stop a truck..So I'm pretty safe..

Well than Paul Sitarski, YOUR CAR IS A PSYCHO KILLER on the highway! lol. I haven't really tested my car at 155 mph, I went around 130 mph and the car wasn't shaking. So the conclusion to this story is nice kill Jakub, and AMC CL55 are a big waste of money if you want performance.

Ive avtually been out on the track at Shannonville for a few lap's with Paul, and the thing that alway's amazed me is at the end of the back straight I am usually somewhere in the 140-160kph range and Paul is up around the 200 mark.
On the way to Yorkdale last summer Paul and I did a hwy pull, and he just walked away from me.

Just to let you boys know: there is a AMG CL55 out there that has had major work done to it.... ie. Upgraded supercharger, Maybach Throttle Body added, custom exhaust that looks stock, cams and a bunch of other stuff. This car is fast - I know cause I've been in it.

Good luck if you come up against it!

Later,
