Buddy of mine spotted one of these here. You can buy one for about CAD$94k here tongue First EVO with Mitsubishi's MIVEC.

Put it this way this car is on my wish list.

Hope it comes to our shores one day.

By then I should of been good enough for Santa to put an EVOX in my stocking.

Why would it be $94K??? In the US it is right around the same price (or a bit cheaper) that the STI which runs $46K here... That doesn't make any sense, even allowing for bumper modification.

Finally driving a DSM again!

Read my signature and figure where I am typing this from.

Its CAD$94k in where I am typing this. heheh.. It should be a lot cheaper when it gets to Canada, if ever..heheh.

A base locally assembled Civic goes for CAD$35k so it puts things slightly into perspective. Cars here are rediculously expensive. 300% duty/tax on imported cars.

That EVO IX costs more than a house. Pipe dream with that sort of pricetag.

Is it really coming to Canada? I heard that it was then it was not. Something to do with the front bumper meeting crash testing. Same crap as the last one. If the srt-4 can do it Mitsu can can't they?

They can, but i doubt they want to. If you look at the front of the car, the whole area is open for airflow to the ic/rad. Now if they wanted to meet front bumper standards up here they'd probably have to stick a bumper between the top and bottom opening and shrink the intercooler.
Thats how the srt4 is setup, the short ic is right below the bumper.

No, the EVO has a 4 cylinder 4g63 turbo motor, while the top of the line eclipse is a 6 cylinder & the base eclipse is some other "crap" 4 cylinder. Im sure it would make alot of people happy if they put the turbo 4g63 in the new eclipse with an awd version (I know I would be interested) but they have no plans to do so. Mitsu said there just wouldn't be enough interest, according to them they had a really hard time getting people to buy the 2g awd models.

No their not coming to Canada. Mitsu had origionally said they would bring them to Canada when they did the redesign for the EVOIX, but then later said it wasn't worth redesigning it to pass the crash test for the 400 units (something like that) that they would sell in Canada.

I've seen the graphite gray one with New York plates around before, which I believe is an MR. I just spotted a black one in Oakville on Rebecca. I personally prefer the black of course smile

Driving down the road today it suddenly became clear to me, and i realized that i was wrong on my pervious statement. There is in fact no center diff on these cars. What looks like a torsen diff is actually a planetary gearset, and the clutchpack varies the ratio above and below 1:1 to vary the power delivered to the front and rear axles.

****! I saw one last night in Toronto, didn't know it was a NEW evo, thought it was the evo 8 one. I was just excited to see an evo in general. Dark gray and had new york plates that said "DARTHEVO"

I've seen that EVO a few times. Its a beautiful car. Its a Evo VIII MR. He is a member of the Mitsubishi Car Club of Canada. Sometimes see him at the meets. He lives here but works/lives in the New York during the winter.

Not worth $94,000. I would rather get an STi for $50,000.

A friend of a friend just picked up an evo. Im not sure what number. He lives here but has a U.S. address. I was told that the car was spun on the track and is considered a write-off due to the fact that it requires over 100 hours of body work. My friend drove the car and said it drives almost perfect despite the alignment.
He also said it is fast as ****

I saw that car yesterday at the Toronto-Subaru-Club meet. He came with some of the Ultimate-Racing customers. He has the U-R exhaust, but other than that it is mostly stock. Nice car anyway. I have some pics I will try to post later.
