Keep an eye out, missy boys go quiet a bit and I'm sure were going to be making a run shortly since we finally got our cars working properly.

I might be going Sunday for Mopar day. I went a few years ago and it was good. Not too many cars, lots of old muscle to beat up on as well as a bunch of slow Neons to embarass.

I spent the day trying to tune the electronic boost control in my AEM with some success.

First off the MPH was faulty due to some flooding so I won't include it. Kind of sucks.

First run of the day was at 16 psi of boost and I ran a 12.6 concentrating on the shifting. I think that's pretty decent. I was racing a Dodge Omni (2500 lbs) with a T3/T4 50 trim at 20 psi, FMIC, straight C16 etc and beat him by only like half a hood. It was a fun race.

When I finally got the boost up to around 21~22 psi I ran a 12.3.

But then the shifting went to hell. I started missing the 1 to 2 shift pretty consitantly and the 3 to 4 every few runs. I'm still not sure if it was driver error or something mechanical. It just didn't want to go into gear, wouldn't syncronize it just ground. Time to try a different fluid I think.

On top of that I started pushing some coolant in to the resevoir again (same problem as last year).

The track was really sticky. I was launching at 6000 rpm at the start and bogging. 6200 seemed to work good and I saw my best 60ft ever (1.71).

But the shifting and the coolant pushing getting worse ended my day. As I drove home I overheated once getting off the highway.

Yesterday I popped off the valve cover and check the torque on the ARPs to see if they had backed off again but nope they were solid. Looks like it's time to tackle that headgasket once and for all frown .

I might have made the old wound open again when I ran 30 lbs of boost for a couple runs the last time out racing wink

I was getting props on my car from several people including the guy running the lanes. It's pretty neat to see all these trailored cars running 11s to 13s and see my sleak looking 4 cyl the a drove there in running low 12s cool .

BTW they are getting more sticky on the helmet thing. He wouldn't let me race with my helmet because it was too old (1985). Guess helmets have come a long way since then. He listed a number of things mine was no good for and sounded like he really knew what he was talking about so I couldn't argue much. But good news is that they have helmet rentals now, $10 for the day (limited qty).

Sorry to hear the bad news Mike.

You can borrow my helmet if you can squeeze your melon into it. I never make it to the track to use it anyways.

Gratz on the good time at 16psi.

Rental helmets? Ewwwww.... laugh

Do yourself a favour and go to your local bike shop and pick up a cheapy Snell/DOT certified helmet.

Plain / solid colour helmets can often be found for around $200 or less (especially if you can wait for the off season). This is a small price to pay not to get head lice.

I was fighting to keep the sinking ship afloat too MJ. T'was the headgasket after all the, maybe it's this or maybe it's that excuses.
The leak was just enough to push air into the coolant system(only under high boost) but not enough to burn.
Now I'm holding at 20psi and driving it like I stole it.

That poor hair dryer of yours is probably struggling to push that kinda of pressure.
