I'm running 550's, 255 walbro (rewired) with a 2G MAS (lower and side honeycombs removed, screw backed out flush), I have a logger aswell.
I've been searching the arechives, and am wondering why my afc settings are so insanely rich compared to most peoples.

My low settings are around +38-39
My highs range from +30 (300rpm) to +36 (6000-7000)

I realize that my hacked MAS reads less air and has to be compensated richer by the AFC, but I thought that my 550's and fuel pump would make that compensation themselves??

I think I bought my fuel filter at Canadian Tire, could that be clogging my fuel system?

I also have a small crimp in the fuel line coming out of the fuel pump, but it's very slight.

Any help or insight would be appreciated?
What are you guys with similar set-ups running on your AFC's?

Lastly, what knock count do you reccommend to keep it below when tuning with the logger?

Sorry for the long post

Damian

well, just from what I have seen posted and a bit from personal experience, a hacked 2g mas/550s and a rewired 255 should be about spot on, and you can adjust the last percent or so out with your safc. Dunno whats up if its not cosher.

as for the knock count, keep it under 7. most people shoot for 5-7. anything over 7, the ecu retards timing, anything below 5, you can crank in more boost. that is taken from a GREAT site about tuning, here it is. http://www.vfaq.com/TMO/ read the first bit, then go back and read the tuning tips. it is great stuff.

best of luck, and when you get your laptop up and running, gimme a shout smile

why are the setting so high, with the 550 you should be running rich, at stock levels (0%) the 2g mas should lean it out. +30% is quite high
try 0 +- a few. log the timing, knock, injectors..etc what gauges do you have
also do you have a fuel pressure regulator or any other mods to the fuel system

i have an a/f gauge, and an EGT gauge. I also have an turbo intake pipe replacing the accordian pipe (shouldn't matter). I have a FMIC, and am running up to 19 psi.

When I try leaning the mixture, I get knock, if I lean it out even more, the car satarts to stutter under acceleration.

The car runs fine with the current settings, but I can't understand why I have to compensate so much considering the 550's and the 2G MAS are apperently supposed to almost cancel each other out.

Thanks
Damian

Hmmm..... Are you sure you have 550's? Sounds like a 2g MAF with 450 injectors. frown

Damian, I think you have your tunning right where it should be. I am at +26 on the high settings with a 2gmas, b16g, 550s, 190lph, br fmic and pocketlogger.

Cancelling out the afc with 550s and a 2gmas is becoming a quick myth.

Ryan, what kind of injector pulsewidth are you seeing with settings like that??

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Just a question that may be off topic here...but how are you not hitting fuel cut with +30-35% settings at 19psi?

I hit fuel cut with 15psi and +21%.

I assume I'm not hitting fuel cut because of the unmetered air in the 2G MAS. I'm getting about 17.5- 18 injector pulse width under WOT, and yes the injectors are 550 RC's.

Thanks for everyone's input
Damian
