Well I'm starting to think about cheap alternatives for making my car look nice. At least for a year or two until I can get a sweet set of wheels and a body kit. Anyways has anyone ever tried this stuff and does it work??

http://store5.yimg.com/I/machv_1636_3970605

Its paint to paint your brake calipers. Does it peel? Does it actually look nice?

The other thing I want your opinion on is if a person puts "Powered by Mitsubushi" shoulder pads on their Eagle Talon do you think thats stupid??

Thanks guys.

Just my opinion...please don't put powered by anything on your car...especially those seatbelt pads.

Ya lay off the seatbelt pads, pretty lame imo.

As for the brake caliper paint, preparation is the key. Pull off the calipers and sand them down like theres no tomorrow, or buy one of those stripper thingy's and go nuts.

Hey Mike,

Those seatbelt covers are really ricey man, don't go there.

I painted my calipers last weekend, and I was really happy with how they turned out. The paint that I used was a brake caliper paint called plactic coat or something like that anyways. As far as prep work goes, all I did was fly into them with a coarse wire wheel on a drill. Cleaned them up as best I could and then hit them with the paint. Now the question is how long will they stay looking good.
Cheers.

Cool.

Don't worry guys I'm not going for the seat belt covers [Linked Image] Just wanted your opinion.

But for the brake caliper paint kit... do I just have to take off the wheel/rim ?? And then sand it down. Or do I have to take the brake caliper off too... something I don't want to do.

Also what color do you guys recommend...my car is dark grey(factory).

Yeah you can buy caliper paint for like 9 bucks at most automotive stores.

I painted my calipers red and just took off the wheels and covered all the rest of the parts around the caliper.

I like red personally, Yellow looks ok with some colors umm black is pointless, hmm I've seen purple on a Scooby and it looked pretty good. Just go check out some colors and pick the one you like best.

I used Engine Enamel and it withstands the heat!!!
It seems whenever i try to do something with my car, to add a little bit of touch to it, i get carried away. Started on painting my calipers, next thing you know im painting the center of my discs etc. etc. then it looks stupid.
Why can't i ever learn?

You are also 20% more likely to get hit on by guys if you paint your calipers purple [Linked Image]

There is a special caliper paint by VHT that works great. I painted mine black to hide them, since they are such small brakes. If I had brakes by Porsche, they would be red [Linked Image]. Also, that paint works well for painting the center of the disks etc, so you don't see anything rusty in the wheels.

I'm surprised that engine 'enamel' works. I've seen manifold paint hold up, but enamel isn't supposed to withstand that much heat...

I think that those belt pads look stupid on a 'stock' car, but on a moderately fast one, and especially one with an aftermarket harness, they look alright. I've been thinking about these, only because I find the belt chafes into my shoulder something awful...

I think seatbelt pads look good.
I have "Powered by Mitsubishi" ones on my talon, and no one can really say anything because it really is powered by mitsubishi.
My car's not really stock though, although it looks like it is from the outside.
That's all I have though, no stickers or anything like that on the car.

6 point harnesses are the way to go only if you have true racing seats though... My buddy has them in his sh!t-Stang, and they look really nice. They really strap you to the seat too!!

What's wrong with seat belt pads?

I was in an accident once. My friend (the driver) had a pad..I didn't...I had bad seat belt burns on my neck for a week. I have them on my car and I don't care what people say..it's my neck. [Linked Image]

Seat belt pads? What for? If you really want to be safe, wear a racing helmet when youre driving [Linked Image] And a neck brace and your'e all set, don't forget the racing gloves and the suit and boots. That will save any neck burns. If you want the "newbie" opinion on those seatbelt pads. I think they're a pain. When I had them in my last car they caught the belt and made it stop from going back up and I always had to pull the pad down to keep the belt from getting bashed in the door. I thought the pads were cool then when I had them, even though they were annoying, now I think there a little ricey" unless of course you do have a 5-point harness, but then your'e talking serious.
