I've been hearing this clunk when ever I turn the wheels for a while now. So now that I have the tranny off I can see the rack fully.

I can see that the rack is moving and hitting the frame when ever I push on the tierod. From what I see there are 2 u clamps holdong the rack to the car. The driver side clamp has a bushing under it but the passanger sied doesn't have anything betwen it and the rack.

So I called the dealor and he told me that only the driver side is supposed to have the bushing. So I can't fugure out why the rack is so loose!

Could it be possable that I have the wrong bracket on the passanger side? What else holds the steering rack in place? I would like to fix this before I out the tranny back on.

Thx.

The dealer would have had to look at the part #'s for the rack replacement pieces to find the part #.

As I have said in the past...Mike H knows everything about the DSM [Linked Image]

Thanks, I ordered the part and it should be in on friday. Now how am I going to get that bushing on there. Do you think if I make a slit on the top of it and slide it up it will work? Or will that effect the function of the bushing?

And I still can't get theat parts program to work. I installed it on my harddrive but It still gives me an error [Linked Image]
