Depending on availability, KVR or Porterfield R4S brake pads on 12" AEM rotors?

Anyone have any experience using KVR pads? (They are both carbon/kevlar.)

I've used a couple of different KVR pads, and would say that they are OK street pads. Certainly good for the $$$. Good cold bite, decent wear, not much dust, but terrible when they get hot. If you are looking for an inexpensive street pad, they work well. I wouldn't use them for any type of competition driving, they just won't hold up the heat our cars make.

The Porterfields will be more expensive, and will certainly hold up better to more agressive braking. I've never tried 'em personally, but have met more than a few on the track who use the R4 to race on, and they love the performance they get out of these pads. No idea who carries them here in Canada.

I'd also look at Hawk pads, the HP+ is a good combination street/light performance pad that has great initial bite and OK temperature performance. These are my street pads at the moment (Hawk Blues at the track). There seem to be a lot of places that deal with them too, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a local source.

Later,

I just picked up a set of the Porterfields from L&R Racing . Haven't installed them yet.

Jason how much were the if you dont mind. I got my last set of pads from Carbotech in the states and they performed well but I would rather go Canadian to skip border charges. Plus L&R has treated me well in the past so any business I can throw his way I will. tu

Jerry, I paid $100cdn before tax for the set of rear pads. I forget what I paid for the front pads (probably $140-150) but L&R is pretty much in line with RRE's prices before tax but after factoring in the exchange rate. Note, I have a 97 TSi AWD.
