Hey guys, I dunno if its my driving style, or just DSM's in general, but I did my brakes; calipers, pads, and rotors all around in the summer, about 10,000kms ago.
The rears are fine, tons of pad left, good rotors, the fronts are fubar though. There isnt much pad left, and I'm lookin to replace them with a better then stock pad, that will hold up longer to higher speed braking etc.
I still wanna use a oem rotor though for cost reasons...
any suggestions on products anyone has used, or uses.
Thanks!

Hello.

Lots of good Pad out there.

For my use which is a few sessions of Lapping each year and a few outing at the 1320 I use PBR Metal Master (Metal Axxis). They have a good bite when cold (road used) and do not fade too much at the Track. I think they are an excellent "compromise Pad".

Front set goes for about $55 at NAPA. They (NAPA) need to order them through Altrom (www.altrom.com).

Other more exotic Pads like Portfeild are supposed to be a little better (never tried them myself) but will cost around $125 for the Front. They offer an excellent performance on the Street and Track. Might try one set some day.

EBC $hit been Green, Red, Purpule or Pink "aparently" have good performance on the track but some of them will chew your Rotor up in about 1 month if you drive them on the Street.

They are not cheap either.

Ghislain.

Stop driving like a 19 year old then. You can downshift and brake sooner instead of going heavy on them at the last minute like most kids your age.

My latest set have lasted almost 100,000 kms which is 2 years worth for me.

I bought a set of 4 from Adam and don't expect to need them for a long time.

Id rather replace a set of pads then a transmission. Im not hard on the brakes, I think its from speeding, stock brakes dont like slowing anything down over 100mph.
Also, I'm going to Napa today to hopefully get the axxis metal master pads, and new rotors as well.
Thanks for the thoughts.

Like Ghislain said, when you go to NAPA make sure you mention Altrom when buying the metal master pads.
The one here didn't know 'PBR' or 'AXXIS' at all. But when I mentioned Altrom (and gave them a part #) things were much better.

I did mention Altrom, and I looked it up myself, they dont make them for 90-92 awds, only 90-92 2wd, and 93+ AWD's. We found another supplier, and my brakes will be ready for pick up this afternoon. The pads were 70 bucks. Not to bad, if I remember correctly I paid like 60 bucks last time for oem napa pads.

edit... I should say Altrom doesnt carry the 90-92 AWD pads, PBR does make them though.

The front pads for 90-92 AWD & FWD should be the same as the calipers are the same.

Well through em on last night, tok em for a lil drive.. the old rotors were defintely warped as the car doesnt feel like its tripping over itself at speed anymore.
The pads are also very nice, they haul the car down alot quicker and smoother then my old brakes ever did even when they were brand new.

Bed and season properly and you will get better braking and longer life. How to here. Dont go beat on a new set of rotors and brakes without prepping them properly. wink

Every day I beat my own previous record for number of consecutive days I've stayed alive.

You might want to look into Gransport Carbon Ceramic pads for your next set. My friend works at the plant and has them on his car (92awd). They really grab, and are made for high performance street and light racing I believe. These are their mid-high performance pads. The track stuff doesn't really do well while cold, and is probably a little to harsh for city.

They had the front and rears for 1Gs... fronts for 2Gs. Probably rears too, but not for the early 95s and some stealths with vented rotors.

I have mine waiting to go on and they look really nice. A tad pricey however at probably close to $100 a set.

Did something to that extent, not exactly, but I wasnt beating on them at all, I can just tell there alot stronger, in everyday braking situations.. havent really used them yet.

I actually like the KVR Carbon Fiber pads they grip nicely. Very good pad life the brake dust comes of the rim easily and generally work well I'm quite happy with them.
