JDM, but that's way too much money! Let me know if you want one, I'll do a lot better than that.

The JDM is likely lower mileage 60-90,000 km. The problem is they dont take care of their cars the same as we might. There the car is on the road for 3 years and here most people would plan on at least 5-7. So break in and oil changes could be an issue and the engine has been sitting around for a few years. So a careful inspection checking for oil condition, yellow or varnished appearance, shipping damage and having to add an oil cooler for a 92+ engine. The JDM cyclone intake and sensors wont work and you will need to switch those from your old engine which increases labour. Look for a min 90 warranty which would probably be void if you do mods b4 installing.
Oh by the way $1500 for a non turbo JDM is too much. Mine was mint with a like new 14B and the dealer threw in $100 for an oil cooler and it cost me $1500-$100 for cooler=$1400

I just called another place ( http://www.japkor.com) and they quoted me 750 for the JDM engine (They said from Korea and out of a Hyundai most likely). Should I be going for that instead of the 1100 normal one that I know runs good?

Trevor you seem to be answering your own question. If you know the engine is in good shape then go with that but $1100 sounds pricey for an N/T with no warranty. As I indicated the JDM has some extra labour involved. You need to take a piece of paper compare all the costs and the labour required and go from there.
There seems to be some confusion over JDM's. A JDM 4g63 is still a 4g63 it isnt special or faster or somehow magical it is an engine. With any used engine condition and maintenance history along with cost are the determining factors.
