has anyone had any experience with pacesetter down pipe? and turbo header?

I know pacesetter is known to be very good but , the down pipe is 3" , is the stock manifold worth upgrading, not neccessarily pacesetter.

Pace Setters are probably the cheapest Header manufacturer out there.

Their product is made out of Mild Steel and the Welds are not the best.

Their Down Pipe will rust in no time unless you get it coated.

Tubular Headers are overated unless you are palning on making huge amount of power. Some of the big boys are still using a Ported 2G Exhaust Manifold. I would suggest you put your hard earn ca$h on a good Down Pipe, Cat and Cat Back.

Radim at Metalex makes good Exhaust systems. He is in T.O. but I think that it would be worth the trip, unless you can find a good shop in Ottawa. His systems are made out of $$ and you can ask him to make it the way you want.

Just remember that you are not driving a car with a big a$$ V8 but one of the best 4 banger out there. laugh

Ghislain.

Hope this helps.

Ghislain.

Wow i can't believe the negative input on the pace setter header and down pipe. I bought them myself and regreated it when i read reviews. I put them on and man i'm pimp in. Who ever gave them a negative review you obviously don't have one! Power to redline and awsome sound! First i put on the downpipe (which only way you can get it is coated) and the increase was worth it, then high flow cat and exhaust(magnaflow is awsome sound)and that was a good increase. Then the header(which i got coated at fireball for cheap)and dam!i'm pimp . Who ever says differant there on glue.
BTW: 14b only
Worth the 180- 200 from mopac

Mmmm.

I don't have them "No More" because I sold the car.

My negative comments about the Pace Setters is about their wormanship, meaning they are build with Crappy Metal that will rust in about two years and secondly the Welds are like s#it.

Have you looked inside the Runners before you slapped them on??? Probably not.

Did you get them Coated??? If not have a look at them now. The paint is probably all burnt by now or it will be by the time you drive to the next Club meet (this coming Sunday). Rust will seep out by next week.

As for the power increase; Headers kills bottom end Torque and allows you to make more power highr in the RPM. Now for power; It's an NT. I use to have one and really like the Sled but never bragged about it's power because...

Sound; I think that it actually sounded like a bunch of aungry Bumble Bees in a Tin Can.

BTW; That was my old NT page;
http://members.kos.net/ghislisa/

I drove the $#it out of it for about 6 years. Lapped the thing for 4 summers and had lots of fun with it.

Would I buy PS Headers again??? Mmmm, no.

It's worth noting that you guys are talking about two different headers. Ghislain is talking about the non-turbo DSM headers (which I agree, are crap) and Jay is talking about the turbo headers (which I've heard are better, although I haven't seen them in person for myself).

Well jeff you will se them in person. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's brain was covered in malt hops and bong resin(meaning my post last night which ended up in announcments freak ) The meatal is cheap (16 gauge mild steel tubing)but if you get it coated they wont rust. And yes i looked at the welds, I accually the welds are deffinatly not the problem(thick tig welds)it's the stretchin of the tubing to make the shape of the head flange. i think it's no sweat if it's coated. The spool is WAY better. Don't be fooled if your at the yorkdale i"ll take you for a spin

I've heard horror stories of the pace setter headers having cherry welds inside their manifolds , only to brake off and distroy the turbine housing.

Im pretty shure I saw or read about it on tuners a while back.
