Very, Very, nice, last year I almost bought a 2001 Kawazaki ZX7, but unfortunately I could not justify paying $2600 insurance for one year, and only ride for 6 months cry
So, instead I went out and bought a 2000 V-Star 1100
and I'm paying $900 per year.
I'll wait untill I get more experience and go out and buy a sports bike.
Untill them I'm stuck with a loud, but slow motorcycle. Yieppy!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats. I'll be joining the ranks of the two wheel riders soon too.

How much did you pick it up for and what are you paying for on insurance on that thing?

bought it from a very good friend, for $10,000. with tons of aftermarket mods (MIG dual titanium full exhaust, braided lines, double bouble screen, orel dampner, sproketed, re programed etc....) and 8000km.
bike had to go into my fathers name for insurance $$$ purposes. RBC quoted $1200 for me as secondary. not bad considering my G record. annoy

Way to go Shawn

If you need any mods done let me know. I was able to get 178 WHP out a few RC51s smile

Also have you tried State farm ? I just got my renewal forms and Now Its $72 per month for my 2002 Busa ! Fire/theft and 1000000/lib, but no collison, if I wanted that, then it would be $90 per month.

if you're caught doing 140kmh in a 100 zone = a few points
150kmh in a 100 zone, you'll be arrested.
350kmh in a 100 zone, you'll be shot. On the side of the road. Like a rabid dog...

That is a nice bike for sure. Great street bike IMO. I just don't really like the twins on the track. ponder

If all goes according to plan at work, I will be getting an RC51 for the street and a shiny spanking new 04 GSXR 600 as my new track toy.

Is this your first bike?

They can be had fairly cheap nowadays. $4200 for the bike, $1000-1900 for the insurance and you're laughing. $1500 down on a finance deal from a ahop will get you on the road, prvided you don't have terrible credit. smile Good luck.

Very nice
Congrats

I was considering a late model V45 this year but decided i would rather keep my cheap and paid for VT600 on the road and spend the $$ on my offroad machines and finishing up the body kit on the laser.

yes this is the first bike i have owned.
i have been riding with friends for a few years, and fairly heavy into motocross since a child.
so i wasnt crazy about getting into payments on a 600, with my size, i think i will out grow it way too quick (6'2" 225lbs) and i defenatly didnt want to get into a Gixxer, or R1 they just scare the hell out of me when your trying to relax and cruise around. i considered the 05 rc51, but i am not crazy about all black bikes either, they are hard enough to see as it is.

my buddy just bought a 05 repsol, and offered me his. ive always loved his bike, and driven it before.....very smooth acceleration, handles better than anything i have ever felt. and i think is the most forgiving litre bike on the market right now.
now for the warm weather!!!

Congrats on the great purchase.

I lost a very close friend of mine to a motorbike crash a few year's back (yes it still kills me thinking about it).

So I just wanted to give you some advice (from a former rider). Please always be aware of your surroundings and traffic. You might be the best rider but a person in a large SUV or truck has a very high chance of not seeing you.

I really do hope you take my advice.

And when the time comes to ride, have yourself a good time

all the best
