I got mine launch day. I have had zero problems with it. Some of the 360 games are very impressive and looked really good when I had my 60 inch sony tv. But had problems with tv ,in fact three sets so back to non hd now.The games still look good on my normal 37 tube though. Some of the best games are COD2,Project Gotham racing 3,DOA4. You can also play a lot of old xbox games on it. Most work ok some have back compatible bugs.
Some of the new 360 games have disappointed as for some reason they have turned vsync off to get the framerate up in some games. This causes very annoying tearing of the screen. It is still found in even the newest released 360 games. I hate it! No excuse for that! I think the 360 may not be near as powerful as MS wanted people to believe or it wouln't still have these little problems in some games. Some games also have slowdown but pretty much every 360 game is at least jaggy free and supports hd resolutions.

I love the wireless controllers, dashboard, everything about the 360. Might even buy another one to play system link from upstairs downstairs like used to on my xbox.

I did buy extended warranty from microsoft just in case ,there was a lot of initial reports of duds.

If you have an HDTV it is worth it. I have had zero issues with mine.

Some of the games you can tell were just port overs and don't look as good as you might expect for a next gen consol. Others though you can tell were designed for the 360 like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and they are just friggin great.

I sold my first machine to Mike and just picked up a second one along with my HDTV. Altough this machine has been giving me some trouble with the disc tray, it doesn't open sometimes frown .

So I highly suggest you get an extended warranty and purchase an HDTV or you won't be getting the full potential of the machine. Altough one of my friends is playing 360 on an old 19" TV. Sucka bird

While games look spectacular on hd tv they look fine on normal tv also. And as said you can play quite a bit of the xbox library on the 360. The new controllers especially the wireless ones are fantastic. Get the harddrive option for sure.

IMO, the 360 is highly over-rated. Not all pre-360 games are compatible.

PS3 is what I am waiting for. I have heard so many good things about it, and ALL PS games are compatible with it.

Just my opinion.

I don't think its overrated. It plays most all the good xbox games like Halo2. It actually makes them look better takes out the jaggies on them.
I hear the ps3 is going to be like 600 canadian at least. Also after having three top of the line sxrd sony 60 inch tvs be total lemons and having sony warranty not be worth the toilet paper to wipe your ass I have to think twice about ever buying another sony product.
And I was die hard sony fan and also have an xbox and ps2.
Ps3 will get some good games like the excellent ace combat series mabye exclusive but sony has no game that compares to Halo 1,2 and for sure three.I would buy a 360 just for Halo.
And no final fantasy is not going to make me buy a PS3!

That is exactly what I'm waiting for. I used to play Halo 2 for hours everyday on Xboxlive, but the cheaters have driven me away. Now it's time for Splinter Cell. But ya, buy the monster cables for the system aswell, the are pricey but worth every dollar.

I am definately a xbox fan! ALL the way.

Heard nothing but good about the 360.

Now the ps3 on the other hand. Has been pushed back so many times because of the discs they are using.

The ps3 sounds good. But I think it's gonna be a complete failure due to using blue ray.

The discs they are using for games are blue ray discs, and I have been reading that their having too much trouble with the discs.

Even the slightest scratch, and it doesn't work.

Or even if it's in it's case, and gets dropped to hard it will mess up the disc. Not exactly reliable if you ask me.

And I know for sure that the 360 is durable, built to last, and the nicest part is the internal hd.

If you have a HD TV, Excellent visuals. If you have a normal TV, it looks like the original Xbox graphics sorry to say.

Metal gear solid were pretty weird and not that great at least the earlier games.Socom maybe 4 might be real good .Was a big fan of Ghost Recon but don't like the way they have changed from the old ones. The new ones are more arcadey or something. No blood and not near as much stategy as when you had couple of squads to control and could change thru your men if one died or if you just wanted to change thru your men.

I have one big beef with some 360 games. Many have vsync off..even the newest ones like Ghost Recon,Saints Row, and bunch of the launch games.
That looks awful on a big hdtv to see the screen tearing that vysnc off causes.Thats one reason am being pretty darn picky with my 360 games. They are not cheap either.

Interesting if blue ray is that delicate. That won't be a good thing at all. As said I have lost a lot of faith in Sony after my tv nightmare. I bought the 60 inch sxrd sony right after I bought the xbox 360. First set was screwed they took months to finally send someone buy to put in new light engine. That second light engine was more screwed than the first one. They promised a brand new set and finally delivered an old build date one that also was screwed up. Then they told me too bad so sad nothing else we can do for you! You spend 6000 on a tv and they tell you that. Screw Sony! Lucky finally got refund out of store that sold it too me and only cause new the district manager.
What was funny is everyone was saying how unreliable the 360's were and here my super expensive sony tv has three lemons in a row.
I would be buying extended warranty on my PS3 if I were you but don't expect any good to come of it if you actually need to use it!

if I had to pick between 360 and ps3 I'd have to go with the 360. the 360 works and the games are solid.

the ps3 is going to be insanely expensive and I don't see any games coming out that will fully utilize the CELL tech. they have. a lot of developers are complaining about how complex it is to develop for the ps3. so, like all ps system launches, the first round of titles will be ok as far as taking advantage of the technology.

one thing about the ps3 though is it'll have a much longer self life than the 360.. CELL is crazy.

but, personally, I'm waiting for a Wii.. it's super cheap compared to those power systems and it looks like a lot of fun. I just can't justify spending close to $1000 for a system to play one game or to.

the Wii is going be in the $200 range and the games aren't expensive at all. bang for buck it's the way to go.

I would wait for the PS3. Just by looking at the specs you could tell you won't be needing another gaming console for a long time. The games are perty good but I get bored of games like Metal Gear Solid. But I can't wait for Gran Tourismo 5.
I can play that for hours.

The 360 was released way too early in my opinion. It's not as good as it could have been if they spent a little more time developing it. Microsoft will have to make another console soon to compete with PS3 once the developers can make games that can use the PS3 to it's full potential.

The Wii on the other hand is a must have. The games are amazing. The whole family can actualy enjoy it. I'm defenitly(SP) buying it.

Untill then I'll stick to my PC.

The 360 has got the kick ass online. If your looking to have fun with your console get a 360 with xbox live!!
My GT is joe4g63t Look me up, I am in Call of duty 2 and GRAW.
The live arcade is fun too. Gots some good games for the wife too.

If you have had good luck with your Xbox or good luck with you Playstations then stick to what you like. PS2 has more games, Xbox has the newest system.

As for the PS3 blueray is still up in the air because of the format that other manufactures are using. Sony is forcing blueray on them. Wait till the war between them is over and take the winning side.

the format war really has nothing to do with which system is going to prevail. Since the beginning of entertainment systems each console has had its own format and from what I know no system has failed because of their choice of format. (you can argue N64, although it didn't fail, it probably would have done better with an optical media)

blurry *cough* I mean blueray won't ruin ps3... if it so happens that HD-DVD is the winner then you'll just have to buy an HD-DVD player to watch your HD-DVD movies. I don't think buying a system solely on it's format is a wise idea.

and correct me if I'm wrong.. but 360 doesn't even play HD-DVD? so if you go 360 you lose no matter which format wins.

Check out Ridge Racer 6. After you try that game you wont be comparing 360 to an old Xbox. It is night and day. I wasnt impressed until I played that game. All the other games I had played look just like good Xbox games. Ridge Racer was like player a new PC game, with the graphics turned up all the way.

Look at the past trends. Ever since Sony came out, it took over the market. It surpassed Sega and Nintendo. Microsoft came in and it still didn't come close to the overall sales of the PSone or PS2. Sony is the way to go these days, I know once the PS3 is out, it will wipe out everything like it has done in the past.

XBOX 360 on regular TV = Graphics of regular Xbox
XBOX 360 on HD TV = Whole new ball game.

I'm so frickken tired of PC gaming every game that comes out you need directx version blah and your video driver is out of date and this patch needs to be loaded by the time I get all that crap done I'm not even in a gaming mood anymore... I only get in a gaming mood a couple times a month and only play an hour or so I don't need any road blocks. I put a game in my Xbox I play thats it I enjoy console gaming much more...

PC gaming is the best if you're technical. And upgrading costs a fraction of what a new console costs at launch. Now it looks like console gamemakers are trying to break the rules of staying within the console's limits with tricks like disabling Vsync or when you see the console slow down...

What it comes down to, is that some games play better on the PC, and some play better on a console.

If you can, I'd wait until the Xmas price-drop to buy a 360. I was impressed by the system on my 34" HD widescreen, Kameo and Perfect Dark looked great! I think the PS3 would get my preference, but pretty much only for Gran Turismo 5+. I can stick with my current GameCube/XBox/PS2 until the new systems cost $200. I don't have time to play the ones I have... smile
