Good job Ryan, I need your motivational skills.. mind helping me out in the near future?

I lack motivation, especially when I have no money..

But I am my 2nd day of work at my old job from last summer, as long as I don't drink it away, I should be up and running soon as well.

Well all, final update.

I'm posting this from home! She's on the road baby!!!!!!!!!

One problem: Tranny's fecked. Grinds in 2nd, can't even put it into second when downshifting, and it grinds like a horny 20 year old at a bar when I'm driving.

Now, there's lots of play in 5th. Is the end bolt problem the same for AWD? I thought it was just FWD.

Also, one IC Pipe likes to blow.

And I can't log LTFT on DSMLink, for some reason.

However, she drives, and she's pretty!

Do those Tein S-Techs ever lower the car, holy crap.

See yall at the meet on Sunday!!

Yup. FWD, AWD, T, NT. All the 1G's are included in this phenomenon; maybe even 2G's, but don't know about that.

Are you referring to me?

Horny + 20 year old + bar = Eric?

Congrats on the car Ryan!! How are the brakes (my pride) lol. I had better get a ride in it soon man... I'll be very pissed off if I dont! On a side note, maybe I'll bring my talon to your place on Sunday, I need to pop off my valve cover. Will PM you.

Cool, good work Ryan.

You should be able to log the LTFT by first adding it to the ECU/Capture values drop down menu. Make sure that you click on OK.

You them select it from the Display/values and again click OK.

Let me know if you need any help with tuning the thing. I'll try my best to help.

Ghislain.

Did you check for wear or play in the ball and fork on the tranny when you put it back together, possibly shim the ball if it was worn a little. I found this to be pretty important whenever the tranny is off. A lot of tranny and shifting problems most DSM's have is because of improper clutch engagement/disengagement issues. Have someone press on the clutch and check for full travel at the fork.

Yeah, The road got coated in shiny metallic red transmission fluid and about 10 pieces of transmission casing. Happened about 90kph, with the cruise on. Car felt like the front end hoped clear off the Ground. Definately wasn't fun. however, I would rather blow a transmission then snap a timing belt. But it is easier to just torque it down. I went I think about 2 months after it started poping out of gear. Before it finally went. But again. An hour or so to torque down a bolt will save you having to hunt down a new transmission.

EDIT: little bit of spell checking.

Pulled the cover off tonight, and it wasn't those bolts. They were TIGHT and showed no sign of backing off.

So, tranny's DONE. Need a new one.

Intercooler pipe blowing off... yeah, about that... at the Yorkdale meet today, found that the vac hose was off the wastegate nipple... that would do it.

Anyway, I will get completed pics as soon as she's track ready.

Thanks for following the thread for all who did! Your encouragement was greatly appreciated.

You did have both ends of the linkage apart and did the short shifter mod right? Are you sure the linkage is just not out of whack?

Well, yes and no. The linkage never left the bracket that goes onto the tranny, as we just disconnected the bracket and moved it out of the way. It was disconnected inside the car.

Now, just to clarify, it sounds like a bearing that's done, and this is WHILE driving. Only 2nd grinds really bad.

Hello Ryan.

Have you looked at the Clutch Pedal height and freeplay, inspected the Master and Slave Cylinder???

You should inspect the Clutch Pedal for wear.

I would not want you to replace a Tranny to find out the problem is an engagement issue.

Ghislain.

I would be inclined not to think this is an engagement issue, as the clutch is already out, and it goes into 3rd,4th and 5th fine. It's while it's in gear and I'm cruising along do I get the grinding.

??? THAT'S a weird one... More than likely something in a diff than the gears themselves, unless a synchro is trying to muscle it's way in.

If its a constant whine while driving in any gear, its most likely a bearing.

Yes, and I am still looking for a transmission, and people I PM haven't responded.

Power steering pump blew completely tonight, need a new one of those as well. Car is off the road for now, as I can't drive it anymore, the tranny's gonna blow up. Plus, the 10 day expires on Friday, and I haven't got the car safetied yet either. Have to get new rear pads and e-brake cables.

So, she's gonna be off the road until all this stuff gets fixed.

If anyone has these parts, please PM ME!!

Incidently, Ryan, you CAN use ANY 1G AWD tranny (not just 93, 94, whatever). The only condition is that (depending on the year) you may have to swap cable brackets, t-case input shafts, the t-case itself, whatever. The point being that it's completely do-able and several guys on this board have already done it.

Since 1G AWD trannies don't exactly grow on trees, my advice is buy the best one you can for however much you plan on spending and THEN worry about swapping brackets, t-cases, etc. For example, don't buy a 94 in shitty shape just so you won't have to swap brackets. Know what I mean? Focus on the tranny itself, not everything that attaches to it.

If you had unlimited time you could look for: a 94 in super shape, for half what it's worth, being sold by a guy who lives two doors down. You see where I'm going? Focus on the tranny. I mean, if the situation arises where you can choose between several, then, for sure, go with a 93 or 94. Just don't hold out for a late 1G.

Not holding out for a late 1G, however nobody's getting back to me!

I will take what I can get, as long as it shifts and doesn't grind.
