Hi there, at work we have a 95 TSi fwd with a badly damaged crank. We also have a 91 auto parts car. We ALSO have a 6 bolt flywheel and clutch setup. My boss plans to use this to get the 95 7bolt car back on the road. I am not sure this is possible, as I have only heard of doing complete 1g 6bolt swaps with all that that entails.

Can this be done?

I think he'd have to use the block from the 91, and all that it entails.
Or find a good 2G block. You could even rebuild a dead one that hasn't walked.

No issues at all, I am using a 91 block, with a 2G head.
You use the 6-bolt flywheel and there is no difference in the clutches. One thing you do have to do is enlarge the holes in the head for different size head studs.

On the Magnus Motorsports page under tech info there is a section in regards to running a "6-bolt" motor in a 2G car.

no, no, JUST the 6 bolt crank in the 7 bolt. The 7bolt crank is RUINED.

BTW we have found out about the cranks and its not even close to workable. They are way different.

It will have a full 6 bolt swap.

Yes, you cannot put a 6 bolt crank into a 7 bolt block.

I would find a 6 bolt bottom end and throw a 2G head on it to save you some $$$. You will need to make sure you reverse your plug wires for the 1G CAS.
