I have left my headlights on a couple of times lately, but I cant seem to remember if there is suppose to be a warning or not if you do. I can turn off the car, pull out the key and lock the door with the headlights on and I get no warning signal. I do get a warning signal if my door is open with the keys in the ignition. Not sure if it is a related system or seperate.
Where could I start to trouble shoot this?
Thanks

There is no chime for the headlights. I had to add one to my car, I had a bad habit of leaving mine on. You can buy a kit to add an alarm fairly cheap. Most jobbers and Crappy Tire should have them.

Hmmm... my car has a warning. It's a steady "beeeeeeeeeeeeeep" if I leave them on, pull the key out and have the door open.

I have no warning when the lights are left on. I've wondered if its because the Canadian cars have the lights on whenever the ignition is on. I only need to turn on the light switch in order to have the hi-beams stay on, or to use the fog lights, and of course...when I want to run down the battery.

Yes, I remember I used to have a steady beep too, but no more. Hmmm.. maybe it is in the headlight switch itself.

Well I'll be...went out and tried it, and now I do get the long beeeeep, but that didn't happen a while ago, when I left the lights on and drained the battery. In the mean time, I'd cleaned the drivers door switch, because the dome lights would never come on. Seems both the dome lights and the 'headlights on' warning are triggered by the door switch, so you have to get that switch working. Its an easy task...see http://dsm.org/menu.epl?item=336
