SO As of late, I've had a blast with my beater. Gets me from A - B and looks decent too. So much so I decided to drive that In the winter instead of My S14. My beater is a Charcoal 2g AWD

Anyways, I was driving along on my way to an e-test, I heard a slight popping noise and the engine lost power an died.

I pulled over and found this.
Accessory belts.
[Linked Image]
I thought, "okay, this sucks, but I can just switch the belts"

I I get picked up in another car, go to Canadian Tire To get the belts.
Stupid 14 year old kid did not here when I said "TURBO AWD" and lied to me when I asked him to double check. Anyways, He gave me the wrong belts and I had to go back to exchange them and therefore had to work in the dark.
Piss off.

Got them on, Tried to start the car, Tries to start, a popping noise again, and nothing.
Put the battery pack to it and nothing.

F -it, Get it towed home.

So, at this point I hate the car and do not want to look at it.

I left it alone on Saturday. Until I said to myself, "Okay, I can fix this pretty quickly".

I found a bad Harnomic Balancer. How do I know it was bad???

Thing separated in two and at this point I thought was my main problem.

I put on one of my spare that I have lying around, tried to start the car again, nothing.
Battery pack, nothing
Cables, nothing, except that I felt the engine jump. Now I'm like "No way!". I kinda knew what to expect but I was prepared for it.

Sunday came along, Mike Degli Angeli was over and after a brief discussion, we removed the valve cover to find every exhaust rocker arm dislodged, a few intake ones and this.

Sexy.

I look and the timing, and it now looks like it jumped 3 - 5 teeth.

That night I think I posted for a head.

Decided to forgo working on the stupid DSM and work on my S14.
Sunday, we were able to Pull the engine and Tranny, and drop a new set in.
It took a little longer than expected but I'm sure all those BEERS didn't help. LOL
That and Mike had a little "trouble" finding the "hole"

Monday I finished up some connections on the Nissan, some maintenance, put my LSD in, check stuff over, etc.

NO real progress on the DSM that day.

Tuesday comes along, And I road tested MY S14, advanced my timing, change a few hose connections, and that car is ready to be beat on again.

A little later, Kevin K dropped by showed him the Sexy T-belt and you should have seen his face. We hear about dramatic t-belt failure but few actually see them.
I kindly asked him to road test my car... he was back like 5 mins and it smelt like burnt rubber. LOL. He gave me a thumbs up.

Anyways, we loaded the hoist back in to his truck, helped me clean my garage a bit, and we put the 2g in the garage to be looked at later that night.

We went over to his place and began to pull that PROVEN 11 SEC MACHINE W/TIMESLIPS AND VIDEO bird.

It was ready to pull put I had to leave and I think it should be done today. Hopefully before it freezes again.

Went away, bought a spring compressor thinking that I needed was to change valves still, had dinner and at 9:30 pm I decided to pull the head off.

Actually got in to the garage at 10pm. By 10:45 pm is when the following pictures were taken.

Helder, I think you are rubbing off on us. Even KEVIN was working like you earlier that day

In money terms, that would be about half a HG job.
How much for a HG job ?!?!

I'll let the following pictures alone explain the damage.

Anything wrong with this picture? alien

BTW, balance shaft belt was also broken adding to the drama and I"m sure making it worse.

FYI STOCK BOOST, STOCK SETTINGS, 14B turbo

I'm debating whether to promote the car up to Daily Driver and drop a JDM EVO 3 motor OR keep it a beater and put in a 1g MILL.

Man, that sounds wrong!!!

I told you about the "Mike time factor". Its at least 4 times as long if i'm doing the job. Between goofing off, drinking, my obsessive cleaning and painting parts I never really accomplish much. Hence why my car has run in 16 months, 6 days, 13hrs, 28mins.

Hey! I'm powdercoating a bunch of stuff Metallic Gold tonight! all my 10mm's are gold now!

So was it a cylinder melt-down on cylinder 3?

It looks like the heads in that cylinder were looking a bit... "unsmooth" smile

And to think I was pissed because my alternator died!

That looks like someone tossed a grenade in your engine bay.

Ah well, I'm sure it won't be long before it's running again. Good luck!

It looks like the b/s belt broke and started to melt the timing belt. The same thing happend to me, the b/s belt broke and made the timing belt skip, valves meet pistons and kaboom.

Can we do it white? It'll match the car. Think it would look really good.
