In researching replacement alternators for my 92 NT Talon, I note there are 65A and 75A models.

I've been told the difference relates to whether the car has manual or auto tranny?

Which version goes on a 92 NT, manual transmission?

Will the higher Amp alt. damage the electrical system if the car model specifies the lower one? Is it better to have the higher one?

It's better to have a higher amp alternator.

At least in the USA, they used a 65A in NT cars, and 75A in turbo cars.
In Canada, they gave us higher amperage (90A) due to the higher power demands in winter. I'm not sure if that was extended to the non turbo cars as well.

All of the alternators for 1G 2.0L should be interchangeable.
The 1.8L alternator is not as thick and uses a different bracket.

Rob, Thanks for the info.

I just had my alternator diagnosted as "dead". The shop indicated that the one they pulled off and tested was a 75A (which is same capacity they replaced it with).

In the event this alternator dies I guess I ask it be replaced a 90A?

If they can get a 90A, the better. If not, the 75A is good enough.

I almost forgot what 2nd and reverse gear feels like.
