I'm surprised these cops got charged at all; as cops always seem to favour their fellow officers on pullovers. No wonder the general public hates them.

Eric and I met a superbad cop one night during a late night garage/tune session. He followed us into Sunoco and asked us if we were going to rob the place. We told him that our plan has changed from robbing Sunoco to just filling up on some gas. He told me he was too tired to arrest me so he just sat there and shot the sh!t with us. He told me he was going for a nap. I wished him a goodnight and drove away.

Complete BS, but the outcome doesn't surprise me at all.

Last night on my way home from the gf's, I was pulling onto a local road from her neighbour hood. The limit there was a 60 & this cop flew by so fast, that by the time I had traveled about 400 ft he was almost out of sight, probably a kilometer away. He was easily doing double the speed limit, if not more, no lights etc. But obviously he wasn't "street racing"

Last night I was on the 403 heading east doing about 120..

A cop whipped past us no cherries, no warning at all..
He must have been doing 160-170 no doubt.

I would understand if there was an emergancy... But no lights, Come On.

Fantino says it won't happen again. As in this was an anomoly since Cops usually don't pull over other cops.

Not surprised they got off. VERY surprised they were pulled over to begin with. I thought Fantino was decent when he was the head honcho of the London force. Now, he just seems like a joke. He has stated that if he got his way, the law would have been 30 over rather than 50 over. If he ever gets his way, I may as well shred my license and get a bus pass.

I had heard that someone was in the process of challenging this law. Has anyone else heard this?

I live near an opp headquarter so I see a cop usually everyday. These particular policepeople seem to be the worst drivers i've ever seen. I guess when they paint those cars black and white, they take the speedometers out, and remove the turn signal indicator lever as well. I really don't get how I can do 90 km/h, have a cop pass me, then watch as 1km down the road they turn into the station. It blows me away at their constant disreguard for the rules of the road.

It's always the same old topic.

Lights don't need to be activated for emergencies. Where it's not necessary, they're not used.

People are always challenging this law.

It's not all of them that are this way. Just the idiots that make a bad name for other police officers. Not all muslims are terrorists, but a few have labeled them that way.

We all get it, people are pissed off that the cops got caught for street racing. Cops are pissed off that cops got caught for street racing. Everyone's human. I'm not going to lie, I'm annoyed that this comes up on the board all the time, and it's always the same people complaining about it. Sorry guys, I just needed to let that out.

I will complain, and then complain again, and then complain some more. Why? Because this is an asinine law that has nothing to do with street racing. It was made to appease the public so that it looked like they were doing *something* about street racing. Do I go over 50 in the city? Never. Do I go over 50 on the highway? Rarely. So why do I care? As usual, it's the principle. What pisses people off most is the double standard. Fantino talks out of his ass. Zero tolerance...I guess if you read the fine print, that only means if you're not a cop.

But not all Muslims BECOME terrorists. The very nature of the police force requires that you MUST BECOME corrupt in order to survive in that environment.

Jim Kenzie has reported in the Star that a few people are challenging this in higher courts. He'll report on it when it comes to court I'm sure.

And try to make a change from the inside, Eric.

I made a complaint directly to the local police once, not because of an officer's excessive speed, but because she also made a dangerous sideways 'slide' move when changing lanes between two cars that were very close together. It was like watching Pole Position.

The chief told me they were responding to a call, but couldn't use their lights or siren. I responded that they could have briefly to warn the cars of the presence of the police vehicle, as it was far away from it's destination and would VASTLY reduce the chances of causing an accident. He said he agreed, and that they'd try to find a compromise.

If cops want to drive a little fast at times, I've got no problem with that. Just don't do it ALL the time, and do it with discretion in higher-traffic areas. They seem to think that their 'special training' helps make them immune to accidents. Dangerous attitude to have.

I tried to report a cop driving dangerously once, and they just kept transferring me from department to department until I ended up speaking with some civilian secretary who was not even on the force.

I tried calling back and reporting a cruiser stolen, and they took me a lot more seriously...Until they asked how I knew the cruiser was stolen, and I told them that surely no COP would drive like that....

I wonder why I used to get so many tickets??

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

You're telling me it's not necessary to warn people infront of you that you're about to pass them at 60km/h over the speed limit.

Give me a f*ckin break.

It bothers me that you keep trying to defend these idiots who are here to help and uphold the law but keep breaking it and nothing is done about it.

If a police officer breaks the law the penalty should be DOUBLE what they would be for anyone else.

We're all human is not an excuse for Police to break the law and then be held above it. That's why I hate PIGS and why I hate when people try to defend them with ridiculous excuses.

Maybe next time I get a speeding ticket from some cop I should just tell him 'I'm only human' and rightly, he should let me go.

Give your head a shake.

last i heard there was a few lawyers challenging the steet racing law, I have 3 freinds going through it now. The argument is , the law is a violation of human rights to a fair and equitable trial and are innocent untill proven guilty in a court of law. By impounding ur car and taking away ur liscene, the cop is judging and carring out a sentance. Remeber its not just going 50 over, stunt driving or "possible street race" are also causes to get pulled over.

I agree the penalty for those who inforce the law should be at least double. Ive been passsed by cruisers. In a school zone no less, forced on comming traffic into a ditch and went to tim hortons.. Followed the cop into timmies and gave him my opinion on his driving skills. he told me he was gonna bust me for something. But i told him he coludnt and he was a goof...

I'm not defending the idiots. Try reading the post and give your own head a shake. I'm defending the officers that aren't idiots. I'm saying that it only takes a few people to ruin the name of the entire populus.

It's people like you that label an entire group off of a single judgement.

I too agree that there should be no immunity for police officers, and they too should be subject to the same punishment. I dont believe that police officers are above the law, regardless of what you may think.

If nothing is ever done about it, obviously there are a lot more bad cops than good or they'd be more worried about their reputation and actually have some severe penalties for officers who break the law.

It's not a single judgment that I'm labeling police from, it's the thousands of complaints and countless bad cops on EVERY force that do it. If the reprecautions of breaking the law were more severe maybe less officers would feel inclined to do so.

They make their own reputations, not me.

There has always been double standards when it comes to cops. They constantly bust people for doing the same thing they and their buddies get away with by merely flashing the "badge"
