I've noticed that there is next to zero discussion of politics here. I kinda like that, despite my powerful curiosity to know other people's opinions on things.

The other auto forum I spend any time on (local club forum, full of fucktards) is lit up with comments and opinions on the current events but not a whisper here.

Actually, there's a lot of political discussion here but it's mainly related to cash grabs and car crushing, tuner rights, etc..

I'll bite. A couple of statements.

-The Liberals want to run the Country again and will do anything to do so including get in bed with the more socialist NDP and the speratist Bloc.

-The NDP don't expect to rule any time soon so any coalition that gives them more of an influence = win.

-The Bloq do not have the best interests of Canada in mind so the fact they were to back the coalition scares me.

-Those who voted Liberal hate Harper and want to lead again so will support any colaition blindly.

-Those that voted NDP never expect to gain power and want to gain more influenece. They also hate Harper and the right side of the spectrum and so would support any coalition blindly.

-Those who voted Bloq don't necessarily have seperation in mind but think that the Bloq will fight for thier interests. They will support any coalition that sees them have more influence.

-Harper still has my vote but a Conservative majority scares me a little more today. He tried to pull a fast one.

-the coalition never would have worked. The Liberal party is even too fractured at the moment.

-I aggree people need time to calm down

-The people voted a litle over a month ago. They stated pretty clearly who had thier trust for this down turn coming. That should not be negated so soon. Send us back to the polls don't steal power.

A new element was discovered:

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.

The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons,88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from four days to four years to complete.

A Coalition, in and of itself, isn't a bad thing. But the diverse factors in this one were a turn-off to many. The Liberals were deluding themselves thinking they would be able to fully control the two 'pawns' of the other parties, who definitely have their own agendas.

I don't involve myself with Politics, and this is another reason why. With all of the troubles Canada faces, along with the threat of a huge economic recession, the #1 thing on the Government agenda was infighting and trying to feed their own egos. It's like high school all over again.

Was chatting with my mother last weekend, discussing politics, each of us talking about both sides. What annoyed her most was that Parliament hasn't really convened (read: done any real work) since July. (To her, the throne speech doesn't count). Now, it's December, and they won't meet again until January 29th, which is, for all intents and purposes, February.

Love him or hate him, Gilles Duceppe is the smartest guy in politics. If you watch any of the debates, it's very easy to pick that up and that's not even in his native tongue in the english debates. He wants what's best for quebec, and he's going to do whatever he can to do that and I don't think anyone else has that passion or drive for their people. He knows he'll never be prime minister and that's never been his objective, he just wants to help quebec.

And what's wrong with socialism? For some reason people in North America always think of corrupt communist regimes when they hear the word socialism but really, most aspects of socialism are good.

It gives everyone equal opportunity to do something with their lives regardless of how much money they started out with. You get free health care (drugs included), shelter, and education (post secondary included). What you do after that is your choice but everyone has the option to succeed.

Canadians get called socialists continuously by americans because of our health care system which most of us take pride in. It's is a huge part of who we are in this country, and it still doesn't compare to some european style health care that is more 'socialist'.

It's like any system, Kev. Starts out good, until the people at the top decide they're not getting enough out of it. Too easy to hoodwink the people at the bottom, especially if they're uneducated for the most part.
