So I recently checked out Taken and The Watchmen. Can't complain much about either of them. If action and/or superhero movies are your style, check 'em out!

Anyone else seen a good movie lately?

I caught Transporter 3, too. That wasn't too bad either, as long as you can get over the impossible car manoeuvres. laugh

I just finished reading Slumdog Millionaire. I plan to go see the movie now. The book was very good and I heard the movie got great reviews.

Gran Torino, Clint is still The man.

Taken was solid. Both great movies

Slumdog Millionaire and Watchmen are next on the agenda.

If you thought Mr. Brooks was bad, try watching Jim Carey in The Number 23 - words cannot express how seriously lacking that movie was...

I liked Mr. Brooks, but I'm one of the few that isn't a Kevin Costner-hater. It was also amusing that my mother only figured out the one guy wasn't real about 5 minutes from the end... wink

WatchMen for SURE...

I love movies.

Body of lies is good and if you like that sort of middle east movie, Traitor with Don Cheadle is good too.

I liked Slumdog but I wouldn't have picked it to win best film and I started out hating Changeling but it ended up being a half decent movie.

Going to watch Taken tonight and Milk and Boy in the Striped Pajamas in the next few days.

Anyone seen either of them? Any good? No spoilers please.

Oh, and the Planet Earth series on Blu-Ray is pretty kickass.

The number 23 wasn't that bad to me, i just liked the ending. Jim Carrey can't play a dark character, i kept picturing ace ventura. Quarantine was an alright movie if you got a nice tv, i wouldn't watch it again but it's worth a look.

"I don't have any money. What I DO have is a particular set of skills..." wink

BTW, Definitely do NOT go see 'My Bloody Valentine 3D'. My wife dragged me to see it since she liked the original (filmed in her hometown). The 3D effects were pretty good. The action/horror sequences were also good. But the acting and dialogue... My GOD the dialogue! It was the first movie I actually tried to fall asleep to!

When the inevitable group of kids starting acting up in the back, and started fighting with people that were asking them to keep quiet, they stopped to watch an action sequence JUST before I was about to turn around and tell them that the dialogue was so terrible, it really didn't MATTER if you heard it or not.

Seriously, it was BAD.

Well I saw Taken last night. It was pretty good for an action movie but other than that it didn't do too much for me.

What do you guys think about There Will be Blood? I didn't think it was the best movie all and all but I think Daniel Day Lewis definitely gave one of the best performances I've ever seen.

I watched "Fast and Furious" last night. Pretty good if you can get over the usual unbelievable stuff. tu

The parking lot was dusted in snow due to a freak storm when we got out of the theatre. I ended up drifting the Talon. Just a bit. By accident... It made up for unintentionally taking the car out into any kind of snow for the first time in over five years! I blame the summer tires.
embarassed

I also checked out "I love you, man" last week. I found it funny. Lou Farigno, AKA The Incredible Hulk, making several cameo appearances was rather hilarious as well.

Have seen 'WatchMen' since. Liked that one. Too bad I didn't get to see it on IMAX, but that would have been overwhelming if you hadn't seen it before.

Also went to see 'Knowing' the other night. Not bad, since I was expecting 'National Treasure 3' and it wasn't like that. The ending was a little preachey, though.

Fast and Furious (4) weep disappointing, compared to the other 3. Less substance, worse acting.

Taken was a great surprise and quite wicked.

If you're into horror or don't mind it, try checking out the Toronto After Dark Film Festival. It usually has some really great films.

Really I was going to say the exact opposite. Granted non of the actors are going to be receiving any acadamy awards anytime soon (but thats not what these movies are about). I thought it was much better then the second & third & either as good or better then the first.

Transporter 3 didn't like either, supposed to ba an action movie not a love story. Even the GF thought it was cheesey.

I agree with Daren, Fast and Furious 4 was better then the first, second or third IMO.

Taken was a awesome movie.

The first was the best, this last one was pretty awesome too, better than 2&3.
It was action from the get go.

4 was ok. I enjoyed them all equally. Only thing that bothers me is how on the track, the good guys cars are always faster, but when it comes down to street chases, the bad guys cars, even their SUV's are faster...significantly faster...stupid artistic license...

Id say...Fast & Furious 4 focused too much on the plot and not enough on the actual cars. I think they forgot that people never cared about the stupid story line...It was always about the cars, thats what we all go to see. We dont care about Vin Desiel and his love life. We care about whats under his hood. Feel me?

I watched TF&TF over the weekend because I was cleaning up the house and thought I wouldn't get trapped into standing and watching it...AGAIN. I was wrong.

Even the wife joins in. I watch it for the cars. SHE watches it for Vin Diesel, with a little bit of the fact that Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez drive wicked cars as well. wink

For a throw back movie I saw Traffic last night. What an awesome movie. Went into it expecting very little and I really got wrapped up in the plot. A lot of big name actors for the time (2000). Great Sunday night movie.
