This following one looks like it's super clean. Not too crazy about the whole you tube thing that doesn't tell you frack all about the car but I guess it's worth checking out. The price is a bit steep but it MIGHT be worth it. The gay ass momo seats have to go along with the steering wheel lol.

Let me know what you guys think.

What's with some of the car being black?
like fender skin and fender on one side, but not on the other?

Besides that, and the ugly momo seats, the car looks pretty nice. Looks like a lot of money was put into that car!

Looks like a new fender Brandon. They usually comes primed in black.

Overall a nice find, verrrrry clean looking. Price is a bit high but may actually be worth it. If I could get my car that clean I don't think I'd ask less than 5g's to start either.

Yea that talon is right near my house.
Its fully built, good work was put into it by a guy who owns a shop. They are constantly working on dsm's.
Id say if you don't mind not building it yourself go have a look!
A beast for sure

frack, that's clean. Infact, so clean I sense photoshopping. Something had to be done.

However, if that IS what it looks like...and that's how it is for the ENTIRE car then damn...I'd wish I had 5g's.

Okay so I found this other one that I am going to look at tomorrow. Owner says the the body is rust free, all options work except A/C, which is not a deal breaker and the mileage on the body is roughly 260,000kms. Motor is a JDM 6bolt with about 70,000kms.

What should I offer the guy?

If he is too lazy to go back to the shop with the car and have them resign the safety sheet I would be taking like 2000. But I just don't think talons with high k are worth that much anymore.

If the under neath is as clean as the exterior and it does look like it would fly through safety. If I had 2500 I would offer that. If its a 6/4.

(bodys that are rust free are good but the last rust free body I had needed a rear welded in to hold the braket)

I'd offer around 2k. They've had the car for sale since June with no serious offers... they claim to need the money... show up with cash and I bet you walk away paying 2k.

Additionally, if they claim that it was safetied recently, then I'd want to see the paperwork especially since they're using it as a selling point. Not only that, but I often see things like "engine has 50k, body has 300k"... anyone can say that. Without proof, assume you're buying a car with 265k on the body and motor, hence the $2000 offer.

Good luck.

Thanks for the link Brandon 

That car looks nice and since they are in Thornhill like me is a big plus.

I will call the person this morning to see if it's still available.

BTW. I never heard of buyit.ca. Maybe I should advertise my Grand Prix for sale there. Is this a new site?

Not sure, it's actually sellitbuyit.ca. I got that link from someone else that knows I'm looking to purchase another DSM. But I am pretty sure that it's new

But I think that car would be perfect for you. It's more than I'm wanting to spend right now since I'm only looking for a winter car, but it is definitely a car worth putting money into!

What a fuckin piece of sh!t car. It's worth $1000. I found a lot of things wrong with it so I decided not to get it. I haven't heard back from the other person with the $3500 so I can only assume it's sold.

I might have to purchase a shell and drop a motor in. It is extremely difficult to find a 1G DSM in good condition these days. I've seen so much garbage over the last couple of weeks, that I starting to become discouraged.

I found this over the weekend. The guy emailed me a sh!t load of pictures and the body seems very clean. Only details I know is that the motor seized due to detonation. Whatever that means.

http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...WD-TSI-for-1500-As-Is-W0QQAdIdZ146059879

What should I offer him? $1500 is too much money for a shell which is essentialyy what he is selling.

That's actually a pretty decent looking car, based on the pictures shown. Could be a good find!

I think so. I am going to see it Wednesday afternoon. Looks promissing, I just hope the guy is willing to deal. I hate lowballing people but I don't think this car is worth more than $800, especially when I still have to tow it and stuff.

I dunno about $800 that is almost 50% less! receiving an offer like that is a slap in the face. Maybe he will let it go.

I don't think it's a slap in the face James. It's a useless shell. That's all that he is selling. I might go up to $1000 but no more than that. Running talons sell for $1500. Not the best but running non the less.

At this point a good shell should be worth more than a running DSM in otherwise shitty condition. It's easy to drop in a motor, not so easy to do a bunch of reconditioning / rust repair / paint work, etc.

So I'd think $800 is pretty low for it if it really is in good shape, but I'm also of the camp that says you never know unless you ask! smile

Good luck!

Its an old buyer/seller rule... When you sell, you ask higher then what you will sell it for. When buying you go lower then what you want to pay for it and always bring CASH. It shows seriousness on a purchase and they will be more likely to budge wink

Good luck! Sounds clean!

Here's the update.

I went to look at the car last night and made an offer of $1000 which I thought was fair. The guy gets all insulted and says that he will not let it go for a penny less that $1500.

I turned around and told him to use the car as a garden ornament as that's what it's good for. Plus the car has been sitting for a year and a half. You would think he would've got the hint by now and lowered the price to sell that POS.

Anyways, bottom line, I think I am done looking for these cars. I have made a serious attempt but I am starting to get very discouraged and ready to acccept defeat. I think it's time to let go of the DSM's and look for something else.

So, I would like to thank all of you who have helped me and provided advice. I'll stick around and come back here very so often.

Take care everyone smile

You'll forget those words soon enough and come back to the broken side. tongue I'm sure eventually the right deal will come walking your way... its just patience. I spent months looking for a good deal on a DSM, found one eventually that didn't look so bad, then a week or two later a better deal came by. Too bad I didn't wait frown

Nonetheless, I know you'll be driving a DSM again, it's in your blood now tongue

I'm with Eric.

I looked at a lot of 2Gs before buying mine. I really wanted a Spyder though.

Week later I might Mike D and found out he was selling his Spyder, d'oh.

How come 5.0 stangster didnt jump all over Nigel's Talon?
Was it too red for his liking? Or did Nigel not want to sell it to him, knowing that he will eventually sell it...

Easy there hotshot. Have I done anything to you to be cheap shotting me?

You guys make it seem like Nigels Talon was some sort of classic Ferrari. Give me a fracking break. It's a Talon that needs work. It wasn't my cup of tea period!I have my reasons as to why I didnt buy it. I'm glad Reza picked it up and I hope it will make a good car for his wife.

Going forward Jamal, I would appreciate if you kept your smartass comments to yourself or say it to my face if you have a problem.

Come on guys. Everyone is entitled to their own decisions. Yes, most of the DSM community here seems to believe that Nigel's talon was a great deal, and lets face it, it probably was. But it's not what Sergio was looking for and that's his choice. Respect it. One day, Sergio will find what he's looking for. Patience pays off, as we've already discussed in this thread.

It's quite a bit of work to swap an entire interior, and even more work / money to change the colour on the exterior. If it's not what you want then don't buy it.

When I was looking at MR2s, I had prices on GREAT MR2s. G-Editions that had under 60 000kms, but were RED and no t-tops. Most people would be like whatever, red is nice, who needs t-tops, but I passed on it, and I bought an mr2 with twice the kms, but a nice blue, and t-tops, and more expensive.

In the end, you gotta buy what you want, you don't want to spend your money then not want to drive the car because it's not what you were looking for.

Nigel's car was a great deal, and I am currently looking for a winter beater DSM, but I wouldn't have purchased his car either, specifically because of the colour. Even though the car is in awesome condition.

In the end, it's to each his own.
