What's with some of the car being black? like fender skin and fender on one side, but not on the other?
Besides that, and the ugly momo seats, the car looks pretty nice. Looks like a lot of money was put into that car!

Yea that talon is right near my house. Its fully built, good work was put into it by a guy who owns a shop. They are constantly working on dsm's. Id say if you don't mind not building it yourself go have a look! A beast for sure

Looks like a new fender Brandon. They usually comes primed in black.
Overall a nice find, verrrrry clean looking. Price is a bit high but may actually be worth it. If I could get my car that clean I don't think I'd ask less than 5g's to start either. It's the same colour as his hood and headlight covers.

Okay so I found this other one that I am going to look at tomorrow. Owner says the the body is rust free, all options work except A/C, which is not a deal breaker and the mileage on the body is roughly 260,000kms. Motor is a JDM 6bolt with about 70,000kms. What should I offer the guy? http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-Honda-1992-Eagle-Talon-Tsi-Turbo-W0QQAdIdZ148648635

I'd offer around 2k. They've had the car for sale since June with no serious offers... they claim to need the money... show up with cash and I bet you walk away paying 2k.
Additionally, if they claim that it was safetied recently, then I'd want to see the paperwork especially since they're using it as a selling point. Not only that, but I often see things like "engine has 50k, body has 300k"... anyone can say that. Without proof, assume you're buying a car with 265k on the body and motor, hence the $2000 offer.
Good luck.

Not sure, it's actually sellitbuyit.ca. I got that link from someone else that knows I'm looking to purchase another DSM. But I am pretty sure that it's new
But I think that car would be perfect for you. It's more than I'm wanting to spend right now since I'm only looking for a winter car, but it is definitely a car worth putting money into!

Didn't notice that, but it's still up there, so I dunno if they could have renewed it or not. Hopefully it's still available.

I found this over the weekend. The guy emailed me a sh!t load of pictures and the body seems very clean. Only details I know is that the motor seized due to detonation. Whatever that means. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...WD-TSI-for-1500-As-Is-W0QQAdIdZ146059879What should I offer him? $1500 is too much money for a shell which is essentialyy what he is selling.

At this point a good shell should be worth more than a running DSM in otherwise shitty condition. It's easy to drop in a motor, not so easy to do a bunch of reconditioning / rust repair / paint work, etc. So I'd think $800 is pretty low for it if it really is in good shape, but I'm also of the camp that says you never know unless you ask! Good luck!

Its an old buyer/seller rule... When you sell, you ask higher then what you will sell it for. When buying you go lower then what you want to pay for it and always bring CASH. It shows seriousness on a purchase and they will be more likely to budge Good luck! Sounds clean!

Here's the update. I went to look at the car last night and made an offer of $1000 which I thought was fair. The guy gets all insulted and says that he will not let it go for a penny less that $1500. I turned around and told him to use the car as a garden ornament as that's what it's good for. Plus the car has been sitting for a year and a half. You would think he would've got the hint by now and lowered the price to sell that POS. Anyways, bottom line, I think I am done looking for these cars. I have made a serious attempt but I am starting to get very discouraged and ready to acccept defeat. I think it's time to let go of the DSM's and look for something else. So, I would like to thank all of you who have helped me and provided advice. I'll stick around and come back here very so often. Take care everyone

It's quite a bit of work to swap an entire interior, and even more work / money to change the colour on the exterior. If it's not what you want then don't buy it.
When I was looking at MR2s, I had prices on GREAT MR2s. G-Editions that had under 60 000kms, but were RED and no t-tops. Most people would be like whatever, red is nice, who needs t-tops, but I passed on it, and I bought an mr2 with twice the kms, but a nice blue, and t-tops, and more expensive.
In the end, you gotta buy what you want, you don't want to spend your money then not want to drive the car because it's not what you were looking for.
Nigel's car was a great deal, and I am currently looking for a winter beater DSM, but I wouldn't have purchased his car either, specifically because of the colour. Even though the car is in awesome condition.
In the end, it's to each his own.
