What a scary experience this was... the shifter broke off the shaft when I popped it into gear.

I checked on tuners and it looks like it's happened to others before. Just a bad weld from the factory.

ummm... to answer your question Kevin, what would you do on a highway with no gear control???? and without an emergency sidelane to pull your car over, and possibly stuck in a really low gear.

You could turn off the engine, coast to far right lane and turn on the flashers, but what if some idiot going full speed happens to not pay attention ...your're stuck in the middle of a highway.

The heavy Knob adds extra stress on bad welds. It might be worth re-welding them properly.

Just push your feet through the floor pan and start runnin like Fred. Keep up to speed until you can get over
