Northumberland News Article

Just a heads up to everyone out there, be careful while doing any datalogging on your car. This accident happened directly across from my house yesterday.

There isn't any word on the driver, but the news article states that he was datalogging, and I did see an open laptop on the ground 10ft or so from the vehicle.

So everyone needs to pay extra close attention to the road, or have a friend with them to watch the laptop while they drive. There was a lot of time and money invested in this SRT-4 from what was seen, and no one would want to see this kind of damage or life threatening injuries happen to anyone here!

That's wild, that's why I have a wife to watch the laptop.

I thought the whole point of datalogging was that you could go BACK and look at it while you're NOT driving....

Maybe that's just me though.

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Serves him right. How can you be that dumb to honestly be messing around with the laptop while logging... maybe next time he will be smart and bring a friend. Darwin Award for sure.

I have an AEM EMS in my cars for the last 4 years and never once have I even considered using the laptop while in motion... like pull over and then make adjustments. Some people's stupidity amazes me.

This guy lives on my street, as I live right around the corner from Steve's place. My friend Benji and I got there about 5 minutes after it happened, ambulance was already there. We saw the smoke and thought Steve's house was on fire. The guy is also a truck driver.

I actually found a headlight by Steve's garage which is about 150 ft from the road, where the car was on fire. The battery, as the article states was thrown really far and there was other debris such as tools and the stereo all over the place. The subframe was torn from the vehicle and was upside down, transmission was ripped off and you could see the pressure plate. I'd say he was probably going almost 100 mph, as he cleared about 75ft when the car got air.

He always drove down my road way above the speed limit which is 80 (rural). You could definitely tell he had alot of money tied up in the vehicle, it was nicely put together from the parts we saw when we inspected the wreck.

I scored a t-bolt clamp as a souvenir.

I was thinking the same thing.. Guages = info you look at on the spot.

Log = Info from your drive that you look at and analyze after

I'm just new to this data-logging thing, and that seemed like a no-brainer to me also. This is the kind of stuff that gives tuners a terrible name...

I have had my laptop open to quickly glance at coplant temp stopped in town, but for the most part, its closed all the time when logging. That is a no brainer.
