so Ive finally struck my last nerve with this car. I didnt realise when i bought it that it isnt really what I want. I liked going fast but with new laws i dont want to lose my ride. Every bloody retard in a 5km area of my car always sees fit to try to get me to go, and acoording to my police friends its up to the cops descretion if we're racing or not. I'm going to keep the car for the winter and get out all the retarded bugs that i keep getting. I dont want a car that requires 10 hrs of maintance every time I drive it for a few hrs. I've seen the video's and heard the stories of random engine fires. For you hard core guys out there, hats off to ya. I dont have the patients for this car. Maybe if I started with DSM i would. The car sits most of the time. Once every two days I take it for a trip around the block. Too worried about vehicle failure to take it any farther. good luck to the rest of you. car will be for sale in march. 8g's... or 6 to come and get it right now.. i dont care. not my daily driver..
rant over...

Hey, I regret it all. I keep telling myself "Thousand bucks, that car would have been back on the road!" Hell, I dropped that much into my 1Ga FWD Turbo Auto over the summer, and it was my beater! Y'all settle now, and wait till spring, a slight, yet noticable change is in the horizon for my 2G. I'm thinking of naming my car, something simple, not too simple like "Betty" or "Tony" or anything like that, nor can it be overly egotistic like "Butch", "Beast" "Blackbird" or anything stupid like that.... Thoughts?

I would never call an engine fire random. It is a reality that these cars are getting up there in age. Things wear out over time and P.O's can be a real pita. It seems that most people really let there cars go after warranty runs out and an enthusiest trys to save it.
The other reality is by selling it you are not really going to save money. If your enough into cars that you bought a dsm in the first place you will never be finished. Sooner or later you are going to pick up another toy car and sink a bunch of money into it. You are probably doing too much reading and not enough driving. I know it happened to me when my car sat for so long. You forget the joy you got out of driving it.
Here is a tip. Go out and buy a fire extinguisher and a CAA membership. Then just go out and drive your car. Don't worry about the other boy racers on the road.

DSM's are great cars & extremely reliable, if their not, its usually the owners fault (or previous owners). That mod the car improperly, don't do any maintance, shouldn't be working on cars, etc & then complain their not reliable. I've owned mine for about 7 years. I've now had to replace the clutch master, one front lower control arm & a rear bushing. So less then $300 in parts in that time. Not exactly an "un reliable" car IMO.
If your not the problem, I'd get all the issues sorted out from previous owners & keep the car. Bang for the buck, their hard to beat (especially since there so much cheeper now). I don't usually have issues with riced out cars trying to race, normally if you don't pay any attention, they leave you alone.

rant over... If you have the chance to get into something else dont be afraid to take it, DSM's are awesome cars but there is alot more out there, change can be good. Just make sure you do your research very good. Plus DSM's are coming more and more affordable if you screw up, you will be able to pick another one in a snap. -Manuel

^^^, Sounds like my car. Seriously though the choice you make must apply to your lifestyle, I ended up parking mine for the past year because I live on a dirt road now. I Drive it up and down my laneway to clean off the cob-webs and park it in the garage in perfect running order for the day that I put it back on the road, it will always be there, and its not worth selling it, so there she sits and it will be there when I'm ready to drive or modify it in the future, cause the boost bug always comes back, and a DSM is the best way to satisfy that, with a bit of help from Methol-hydrate. In the mean time I have a winter beater that is now my DD, so idealy for me I needed two vehicals anyways.

2005 Nissan Altima SER. What a BEAUTIFUL and fast car! 3.5L VQ35DE motor, 6 Speed. Had a buddy in trade school that had one, he took me for a rip.
Lets just say I found my next car if it's not a Subie STI.
